Modern Robotics: Mechanics, Planning, and Control

Good book. Lots of useful example problems. Goes over many methods of defining kinematic chains and manipulation problems etc. DH parameters are a section in the appendix but still covered well. The free accompanying online class is also nice for review or extra instruction. Recommended for both undergrad and grad level kinematics/controls/dynamics.

The first part of the book is one of the most memorable things I've read in recent times. I loved seeing applications of algebra and topology applied to the single bar linkage problem, this book was responsible for reinvigorating my interest in abstract algebra, topology and category theory.The final few chapters are weaker, they try to cover concepts like SLAM or PID controllers which is good and all but it feels like a side dish to the core idea of the book: "Better algebraic structures means better algorithms"

This book studies the formulation of robotics (kinematics, dynamics and control) through modern screw theory. It is a must-read for any serious roboticist.I think it is well written and challenging. Support material can be found in the author's website (where you can also, legally, download a pdf of it; but I do prefer the hard-cover paper book) and a course in EdX, by Frank Park, as well as course in Coursera, by Peter Lynch, are based on it.I would recommend it for senior year or first year grad school.

Every concept is explained clearly and in detail with plenty of worked out examples. There are other books for vision and sensors in robotics. Bur for the mechanics of robot motion control this is worth its weight in gold and yet it is free online. Highly recommended.

Great textbook, very easy to follow.

Look around online; a sightly older PDF version is available. However, having the physical copy makes studying and absorbing the material much more effective.

This is a poorly written textbook. There are few if any examples in the textbook. There are no solutions to any of problems. How exactly is someone supposed to learn without that type of information?You can download the PDF online for free. The videos on YouTube from the author are much more informative than anything contained in the textbook.The way the pages are printed in the book make it difficult to read half of the left page (see photo).

It is an excellent textbook of how to analyze and design robot
