Mondo Vecchio | Authentic 100% Grated Cheese (Romano)

This was my first purchase of this product. Bottom line: very tasty!Were I a stickler I'd lose 1/2 star because of the representation of "100% grated cheese (Parmesan)".Yes, it's 100% cheese, but not (as might be inferred) all Parmesan.That said, the 3-cheese blend (Romano, Parmesan & Asiago) is a wonderful mix of savory flavors, to my palate like a fine (Reggio?) parmesan or nice blend of Parmesan/Romano. The Asiago seems to be a bonus.It works very well on tomato sauces for pasta, *and* shaken over a salad. It is robust but not overwhelming, and tasted on it's own, "cheesy". Again, were I in hyper-critical mode I'd note that it ends up "caked" (not tightly) in the fridge after each use. Some have complained, I see, or suggested non-refrigeration (*wrong* for opened grated cheeses). But truly it's no big deal at all to stir the top with a fork before shaking, actually simple to do. And as a trade-off to get a really tasty product at a decent price... I'm very pleased with this.

I've always used and liked the usual Kraft powdery grated cheese offerings but thought I'd try something a bit more "gourmet" for a change. This is more expensive than the normal stuff, but it's worth it. This is great stuff and is not powdery at all. It's actually grated cheese flakes. And the smell and taste are beyond good. You can sprinkle this stuff on anything, but it's so good, lately I've just been eating it right out of the container by itself with a teaspoon. Yeah, it's that good. This clumps up a lot but it's not a big deal to unclump it. Wonderful stuff. Upon opening my first container of this, I immediately threw another four containers in my Amazon shopping cart. A real treat. No complaints here. Worth the extra money, very much so. Try it. You won't be disappointed.

I like this for some things. From an Italian snob who has insisted on always grating my own cheese, this is pretty good.

I have enjoyed the two containers that I have purchased. It has a nice slightly stronger flavor than other powdered cheeses. It has more moisture than others which makes it seem fresher. I would reorder it.

(Of coarse fresh pastaIs best but there are microwavePastas from Barilla that are prettyDecent/al dente, when tired(me) or in a hurry (the rest of the world) this cheese goes well w/bot or any . OK. We are talking about cheese that is grated and comes in jar. If you expect any shelf-stable grated cheese to compare to cheese you grate yourself from a hunk of cheese you will be disappointed. But, as this type of cheese goes this 3 Cheese Blend is my new favorite.I need a cheese that does not require refrigeration until the jar is opened. I like the bite Asiago adds to the Parmesan and Romano. This product adds flavor to many dishes and I typically go through 24 ounces a month. The price is affordable and the taste is flavorful. I am a fan.

If you want a good cheese, this isn't the one . Look elsewhere

Definitely has a stronger fresher taste than regular store bought parmesan. Tastes like fresh grated off block.
