Do I need to stir ingredients manually？

Thanks for your question. This is a fully automatic ice cream machine. You just need to put the ingredients in, and the machine will automatically cool and stir.

The top is snapped in, but it just beeps and nothing is moving. Should I send it back? The book is useless.

If everything is in place turn the top knob to ice cream symbol and then turn the timer to 50 minutes - that's what I use for two cups of mix. Once you turn on the timer it should start moving.

How much can this make?

When making ice cream, you must respect the capacity of the machine. The steerer is not very powerful to move large frozen volume and may break the machine. The machine get cold very quickly and you can make multiple batches if you need more.

Do ingredients need pre-freezing?

Thanks for your question. This ice cream machine comes with a built-in compressor that has refrigeration function, so it's doesn't need pre-freezing the ingredients.
