SEAQUEST DSV (KOMPLETTE SERIE) [DVD] [1993]

One of the best sci fi series of the 90s, even though it only ran for 3 series it; still one of the best sci fi series you can watch.

Though seaQuest DSV originally ran on TV from 1993 to 1996, the first DVD collections didn't come out until 2005, if I remember aright. The curious thing is that I was interested in its theme and I distinctly recall having held in my hands those first DVD collections back in those years... but for some inexplicable reason, I never purchased them back then.So as I was browsing on Amazon, I took notice as a new and complete DVD collection came out in 2019. Pleasantly surprised, this time I would not let this series get away. Intensely nostalgic, it was about time to actually see what I had only caught glimpses of some 12-15 years ago, and catch-up.In addition to a competitive price and Amazon's magnificent service, I am so glad I finally did purchase this series! It brings back certain memories of well-thought out mid-1990s science fiction television, as well as seeing younger versions of the cast.I particularly enjoy the performances of Roy Scheider (1932-2008)—as Captain Nathan Bridger—and the young Jonathan Brandis (1976-2003)—as Ensign Lucas Wolenczak—highlighting the special chemistry between their characters. I know they were just acting out their roles but somehow, it actually seemed to go beyond the acting, like an endearing fatherly-son or grandfatherly-grandson relationship between the two!Though seaQuest DSV only lasted three seasons, it definitely could—and should—have run for more. True enough, the first season is more of a "near future" credible science adventure series, the second season more of a science-fiction adventure series (like Star Trek undersea), and the third season a mixture of both, in the end, popularity affects the viewer ratings. And if the ratings are not sufficiently good, a series is usually cancelled before its time. And that is most unfortunate.Exceedingly happy with my purchase from Amazon, I can finally add seaQuest DSV to my film and series video library, taking up a very worthy position therein.As with Star Trek, hopefully one day, a new series may continue the saga... And although some original characters may be written off or possibly even substituted with other fine actors, the fact is that Roy Scheider and Jonathan Brandis will always occupy a special place in my mind and heart...

Purchased in November 23. I loved Seaquest when it first aired so I jumped at the chance to own the complete DVD set. I have watched every episode of the DVDs and the quality and presentation is excellent. In response to previous reviews saying there were problems with duplicate and missing episodes this has all been resolved now, there was nothing wrong with any of my discs. I thoroughly enjoyed rewatching Seaquest and I’m sure it will be one I will watch again and again.

I absolutely loved this show when I was a child, to get it on Blu-ray is amazing, just need a region free Blu-ray player for the UK and you are dandy. It's still as awesome as I remember it. Lucas and Darwin are my favourite characters as well as Captain Bridger. RIP Jonathan Brandis and Roy Scheider. Can't wait to watch all the episodes. Shame season three was so short and was cancelled.

Had to wait years to get hold of the complete series on DVD.Only to find out that the 3rd and final series was only 13 episodes long.

Great old Sci fi box set

Dude, it's sea quest, not for everyone, effects are older. Watched this with my day when it came out so for me, still love it, and yeah, new to it, might not be your cup of tea, but for me it is.

Loved this series as a kid love watching it now. DVD quality show the age but heck that’s ok.

Started watching as soon as I opened the package! The 1st DVD plays great so far. This was one of my most favorite TV series of all time! And now I can watch it whenever I want.
