The Monster Book for Kids: Monstrous & Mythical Creatures from Around the World

Soooo Many Scary Looking Monsters!
Who knew there were so many monsters around the world? Many of these creatures I’d never heard of before. As a writer, I found this to be a fun reference to monsters I was unfamiliar with. As a reader, I thought the book was informative, entertaining and cleverly written. The illustrations of each monster were terrifying. I was expecting them to be more cutesy because of the book cover. I’d hesitate to show the illustrations to a young child. They scared me and I’m an old lady. ;) I’m giving the book 5 stars, because the author has shown photos of the illustrations on Amazon, so you know what you are up for.

My review for The Monster Book for Kids
I really enjoyed it. There’s a couple of monsters that I believe are a bit incorrect, but overall very interesting. A very interesting read.

Disturbing and Entertaining
This isn’t the kind of book I would’ve been able to read as a child, simply because I was a really sensitive child who would flee from all things even slightly creepy. But more adventurous children who don’t mind being spooked, or spooking their friends, would probably like this book. The illustrations are eerie and disturbing. The summaries of the monsters are brief, but effective. It’s written in easy-to-understand English and includes a lot of mythology and descriptions. But it also tries to maintain a somewhat humorous flair, both to be entertaining, and to keep the subject matter from being overly unsettling. I’m not sure really skittish children would like it, but kids who enjoy chills would probably get a kick out of it.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

My little monster loved this book, and so did I
I got this book to share with my nephew, but I enjoyed it myself. This book went over several mythical creatures and "monsters" from around the world. It was really fun learning about these creatures and hearing their stories. This book also had really great artwork!.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
