Grammar for Teachers

This book is a must for grammar teachers. I used it to plan out my scheme of work for ESOL teaching and even recommended my students buy a copy.This is a real must have in the classroom.

Mildly amusing, this book serves its reader well. You have 2 options: a quick general explanation, and an explanation with more depth and detail. As a result, it is easy to find a quick summary of what you need to know, and also to dig deeper if necessary. A very practical text for those needing to keep one step ahead of the children!

Really helpful little text for teachers with grammar challenges - could also be helpful for teachers with SpLDs. Accessible read but not a page turner, could be selective in the bits that you read.

A must have for those new to grammar teaching

Very good book I have just completed my CELTA and begun teaching. So this was exactly what I needed. Delivery was prompt and book was in excellent condition

This book is really helping with my english language part of my open university module, lots of things i did not know about the english language.

But disappointed as the website doesn't work, as the book promises.It would have been helpful to create my own lesson plans. It isre-directed to a photographers website which is rather annoying.The email also doesn't work as I tried to contact and find asolution.

School work

We used this book for a university class to teach concepts of grammar. It is simple, but good.

This book is, as declared, ESSENTIAL.I don't recommend it for teachers who are trying to pass a TEFL course. I used it and it wasn't nearly complete enough to be useful for my assignments and lesson planning. I had to use Parrott and Swan instead.Good if you want to refresh your notions quickly.

I bought this book for a college course in English grammar. The book is terrific and I will not be selling it back when the semester is done. It is such a good book that I will keep it for reference. The text is very clearly written and even someone who is really struggling with English grammar can easily understand this book. There is a huge index in the back so you can easily look up any subject you need help with. The author is British and taught grammar for about 40 years so he is an expert on the subject. My major in college was Humanities so I completed many classes which required long essays. Using this book as a reference source helped me earn straight "A"'s and turn in very good essays in terms of proper grammar usage. It is a small book but tons of information is packed into it. I especially like the lay out and how the pages are not crammed with a lot of details - the way the book publisher laid out the info makes it easier to understand than other grammar books I used.Even if you are horrid at English class - this book will help you!
