Vipe Heater Guard, Reptile Heating Lamp Shade Light Heat Lamp Mesh Cover

I used this to cover the 60W ceramic heat emitter (CHE) in my norther blue tongue skink enclosure. It was very tight to get over the fixture, but fit great once it was over. I almost thought that I would have to cut the top frame wire on it to get it over the fixture, but it did slide over with a little push.It seems to be the right size to cover the CHE and fixture without hanging down too far where the skink can climb on it. The spring closed door makes it easy to change the CHE or light when needed. It gets warm, but not hot. Once screwed into the top of the enclosure, it is very secure. I am very pleased with this product and will purchase another.

Thise is amazing. Great size and looks good in the enclosure. I would however mesure the fixture you are putting it over just to be sure. Also, I would recommend a screwdriver, drill, drill bits, I pre drilled holes then screwed everything in. It was easier that way in my opinion. There are also some pieces on the back you might have to push down with a flat head, as they a sharp and might stick out. It was easy enough to do and I HIGHLY RECCOMED this for your snake/lizard enclosure.

Over the years I've used many heating products for various reptiles I have kept. One of the more effective ways to heat the ambient for an enclosure is to use a heat light, or heat emitter. When using a heat bulb/emitter you absolutely need to protect the animals from being able to directly contact the heat source. I've usually built my own heat guards, but with the increase in the cost of materials I felt I'd give a premade one a try. This one is pretty well built, feels sturdy and should do a good job. The one down side I'm finding with it is where the seam meets for the material that makes up the body. The ends were not flush trimmed resulting in small bits of wire that protrude, this can result in damage to the animals when they are exploring and investigating the heat shroud. This is easy enough to fix though by bending the tongs inward or by snipping them off with wire cutters. Other than that small issue I'm pretty impressed with the solid feel of this heat shroud.Update. I ordered a 2nd one and this one isn't quite as well made as the first. There is a couple misalignments of the mesh, and a spot where there is a hole about the size of a #2 pencil. It wouldn't be a big deal but it is fairly jagged. I will have to trim it with wire snips and use a file to smooth the edges off.

I was having problems heating my reptile tanks I bought, I had no where to mount anything on the outside. I bought this because i have to put my heatlamps on the inside of the tank. The metal construction doesn't get hot enough to burn your animals. I can hold my hand on the end of the metal with a 100W heat bulb in it.

The size opening mentioned on the picture us not the correct measurements for the opening. The opening is smaller and does not fit the light fixture. I have bought this year's ago and they fit. Seems like the size listed is no longer the size of the opening but from screw to screw. Which does not work. Also the add shows the size above the opening. Not from screw to screw.

This product arrived with one of the mounting brackets broken off loose in the box, however it should still attach with the other unbroken brackets. Shipping was on time.

These are perfect for my snakes, I don't have to worry about them being burnt. They were easy to install and it is easy to access the lightbulb. One thing, in a humid enclosure the little spring clips will rust, but they're easy enough to remove for cleaning or replacement.

Description lists the diameter as 13cm, which would be about 5-1/8”, but in reality it was just under 11.5cm, making it unable to fit around a standard size porcelain base. Very disappointed because aside from that, there were no rough edges as some other reviewers stated and it seems fairly well built. Read the last note after I purchased “allow 1-2cm difference “... that’s a pretty big deal when your talking about something that is a close fit, and I wanted it to be a close fit!
