Unique design
What first caught my attention in this set was the length and design of the planting ruler. Others I’ve seen range from 12” to 24”, but this one extends to approximately 38”, allowing longer sections of rows to be planted before moving the ruler. It is made of what appears to be thin-layered plywood, 3/16” thick, and sealed front and back as well as on the edges. It has two sets of measured guides 1” apart that will accommodate either of the dibbers included in the set. The holes in the center of the ruler allow for a planting depth of up to 2” while the scallop along outer the edge does not restrict the dibber. The ruler comes in three sections and needs to be assembled by connecting them with separate wooden plates, each needing six screws. I found this a bit fiddly and think fastening them together with hinges or rivets would allow folding for easier storage. The two dibbers are functional, but cheaply made. The larger one has a wooden handle with a metal tip, the smaller one is molded plastic. Also included are a handy full color seed spacing and crop yield reference and some nice plant tags. I checked measurement accuracy on the ruler as well as the dibbers and found all slightly off. This isn’t a big deal to me as I will only be using them as a basic reference. Even though I think there could be a few improvements, this is basically a very useful and well thought out set, especially for the price. I am looking forward to testing the ruler this coming spring with the hope it will speed up an otherwise tedious process.

Love this!
It's winter in Michigan, so I haven't had a chance to use this in my garden yet. I'm really looking forward to using it in May when I start planting. After looking it over a few times, I know that it will be very handy. I plant quite a bit of lettuce, so this will help with spacing and I'll have to do less thinning out of seedlings. So I know if will save me some work. It's a great value since it comes with the rulers, plant labels and 2 types of dibblers. Don't hesitate to buy this because it's a very good set!

It will work...
I STILL have not finished assembling this thing, because I get frustrated and walk away each time I start. The ruler part looks nice and will come in handy when it is time to plant seeds, but it comes in three segments that you are supposed to screw together with these little wooden pieces... it would have been helpful if these came pre-drilled - the ruler itself has holes predrilled where you are expected to drive the screws, but the little connector pieces do not and the wood is hardened or preserved well enough that I am finding it difficult to even drive a little hole with an awl prior to screwing it together. Plus the pieces shift while I am working with them, so I apparently need to get very technical with this and utilize clamps and actually pretrial the holes. I might be trying o make it too perfect, but I do want to enjoy the product!Perhaps hinges or something could make it better. Once I get this thing together that is it - it's just a big long ruler forever and it will just get stuck in a corner somewhere for storage!

It comes in three parts that need to be connected!
The ruler is very long, and it arrives in three parts, therefore it needs a simple assembly using the two wooden connected pieces and the small screws. Everything needed for installation is included. However, it takes some time to place the screws. Also, one needs to make sure the ruler sits on a flat surface during assembly to be aligned properly. I would have given it five stars if there was no assembly needed. There is a lot of information included on the ruler, and it will be very useful in the garden next spring when I will plant my seeds. This ruler also gives me inspiration for what vegetables to plant. The set also includes two plant dibbers of different sizes and plant labels. Overall, I am very pleased with this plant ruler set and I would recommend it!

You need to assemble the ruler - it comes in 3 parts
I was a little surprised when I opened the package up and it wasn't one long ruler, but came in 3 parts that you have to assemble by screwing things together. Not my favorite, but I understand and that's ok.The illustrations on the ruler are cute, and I'm happy with the dibblers as well as the fact at least it comes with all hardware needed. It also comes with plant labels that you can stick in the ground and write on again when you have a new crop of plants.Overall, I'm pretty happy with the set. I think it will make planting a lot easier this coming spring!

Great dibber with a neat planting guide.
I glued the spacing guide together the installed the screws. Be careful or you could screw them through the front. Pilot holes in the guide would have made assembly easier.

Nice Set - Ruler Needs Assembly
I'm giving myself this planting set for Christmas, and it will get a lot of use this spring. The ruler is lovely, with lots of pretty illustrations on it, and the whole set came in a nice, sturdy box, which would make a great gift. The only downside is that it isn't one long ruler...it requires some assembly to put it together...but that's okay. I'm sure it helped them to ship it more easily without damaging it, and it's not difficult to assemble. The chart that it came with is GREAT, too, as it helps you to judge exactly how to space your seeds and your plant rows for maximum crop yield. Overall, I highly recommend this set!

Useful tools
The big and little dibbers will get lots of use this spring. They are both well made and feel sturdy. I don’t know if I feel the same way about a screw together yardstick/seed spacer. I put it together and will use it as long as it lasts since it is an easy way to mark my spacing and also for marking starting points for fertilizer spikes. Bottom line is this is a decent set if you plant a fair amount of seeds.
