JML Arctic Air – Portable Personal Space Air Cooler, humidifier & purifier

It doesn't cool down the entire room but it does keep your spot nice and cool if you're sat close enough to it. It's a bit noisy as expected, but it's great for doing work at a laptop or to have on your bedside table. Works best with chilled water with a bit of ice in it. The water tank is small so needs refilling quite a bit. I have no real complaints, it's been a life saver as my flat is in the roof and it gets very warm and stuffy. I will be storing this air con away for use next summer too!

Conceptually not awful, but I wouldn't waste £40 of my money on this.The cooling effect isn't bad, it should be said, it's a marginal improvement on a desk fan. But the filter went horrible really quickly, started developing mold after just a few days. If you used it two days in a row the air coming out of it the second day smelt really not nice.Possible I wasn't quite using it properly, but if the filter goes after 2 weeks I don't think it's worth the risk.

Obviously, the recent weather has been met with mixed feelings! Some love it, some, like me wouldn't mind a degree or two lower!!!! Saw a similar item on internet site, slightly more expensive, but thought it might help in smaller areas! Then found the JML example a tad cheaper! Took the plunge & purchased! Arrived promptly but noticed slight damage (transit) although this was on the reverse & didn't affect the operation of the unit. Have used it with the supplied adapter & other USB cables & a power bank, all work perfectly. Ideal for personal space, as intended, but believe it would also be adequate for a bedroom or caravan etc. It is a static unit, not oscillating but definitely cools the air locally! Only 3 stars due to cost! I have just looked at, effectively buying the same item again & can purchase for approx. £30 cheaper!!!!!! I wouldn't say "don't buy" but it may be wise to shop around!!!

I've purchased another of these in the hope that the Power Button won't break this time! I took the last one back to where I purchased it from (Not Amazon) and was refunded no problem. Last year I purchased the newer chillmax version but I didn't think it was as powerful and the air was not as chilly. Still good for small spaces and in particular a hot motorhome in the South of France last summer! I've gone back to the original design because I think it is cooler. On the downside I think the filter is more flimsy and could be more susceptible to fungicide but I never had any problems previously....I think if you leave it sodden and not in use then yes you'll have issues if you don't it will be fine. For small areas I found this a life saver it took me from being sticky and uncomfortable to comfortable. It also allowed us to sleep at night too. Yes there is noise but that will only keep you awake if you let it bother you! If the Power button hadn't broke so soon on the old one then I'd probably give this 5/5.

The ads really sell this product however I feel they’re blowing their own trumpet a bit too much!This will cool you down without a doubt, but only if you’re within a foot of it! Otherwise it’s oretty useless! Great if you only intend to have it on your bedside table directed straight at you or on a desk where you’re literally in front of it but if that’s not your intention then save you’re money. The water cooler also goes very quickly so you’re constantly filling it up & the tiny filters inside are paper so if you try to dust anything off it that may appear then the filters disintegrate into mush if still damp! ☹️The only real plush is the lights look pretty.

I really like this item, it is what it says it is - a personal space cooler. I keep it on the bedside table next to me, I have night sweats and this really cools the air down that is blowing onto me I usually keep it on the lowest of the 3 settings and this is adequate. I have had no issues with the item leaking but I think if you don't move it about it's fine, best to move it when its empty.The unit is audible, it's not silent but the sound isn't too loud. Also a nice big button on the top to turn it on + off when your half asleep.

all units came in good nick and all are working well the only problems was one arctic air has a bent vent bit but apart from that all working well for people that say it does not work well i have had 4 units now that all have worked well it does cool you down but if you have a high humility problem of cource it will not work as well the only think i wish jml and others that make this is to stop taking the old stock down as it gets annoying also please make the filters less than 14 pounds as they do not last too long

Very disappointed. Noticed a bad smell coming from it and it was the filter, it had gone mouldy and black. When I called JML the person on the end of the phone was so rude and accused me of not using it property. I purchased 2 at the same time and knew how to use them, but would not buy again and would not use JML again. They are not the high street friend you think they are as I had a very difficult time dealing with them and didn’t need it, nor does anyone, need to be spoken to that way. Waste of money, and does not work when it is hot weather.
