Pretty but it chips
We registered for Arabella for our wedding. Two years later, I still think it's pretty, and I like the weight and feel of it, but some of our pieces have chiped (especially the bowls).Overall, it's not a bad choice, but be aware that's it's not as durable as it could be and be careful of the rims.

Mikasa speaks for itself. I have had this set ...
Mikasa speaks for itself. I have had this set for more than fifteen years. The colors of Mediterranean, olive and greens never goes out of style for daily meals. Had to replace the chipped ones...

I would not recommend these
I purchased this set many years ago. It looks nice when it is new but it deteriorates rapidly. Quality control seems poor.My salad plates began chipping almost immediately whereas my dinner plates have fared better. The under plate for my gravy boat allowed oil to penetrate the glaze and left a stain. All the plates show grey marks from cutlery use. The grey marks can be removed but it is a lot of work and they come back. The dinner plates are too big for my particular dishwasher - I have to lean them at an angle to make them fit which reduces the capacity of the washer substantially.

Love them!!!
I got the 8 place set for a wedding gift from my Aunt & Uncle. That was 21 years ago & I am happy to say that I still love the pattern & the plates. We use them daily & in all those years I think I have only chipped 3 plates. My husband even likes them. Definitely a great set of plates.

Great Choice!
I purchased my first pieces of Arabella about 12 years ago and added to it over the years. Very pleased with the quality as none of the design has faded - still looks great on a casual or dressy table. It's only recently that a couple of pieces have chipped and as this is open stock they're easily replaceable. Would highly recommend this set. We use this set every day so gets lots of handling.

my use report
I have had a service for 8 for about 10 years, and use it as my everyday dishes (but mostly only one person is eating, so in this respect the use is not really heavy). The only problem is you need to stack them in the dishwasher so they don't touch other stoneware pieces, as they can chip if banged just right. I chipped one piece very quickly this way and one other as I put it in the cabinet by knocking edges of pieces together (pretty hard) by not lifting the plate quite high enough for the stack. Both chips are on the underside, right under the pattern ring, so they do not show from the top but do from the side. Mikasa states that the glaze is hard enough so if you get knife marks on the surface of a plate you can use abrasive to get the mark off.

Wonderful Dinnerware
I've also had this dinnerware for over 14 years and haven't had ANY chips in any of my dinnerware. We use it everyday and I have a service for 12. I fell in love with this pattern back in the early seventies when my oldest sister was getting married and it was originally discontinued. When I remarried in the mid 90's I was pleasantly surprised to find it and immediately registered for it. It is SO versatile and can be dressed up or down. Just change out the table cloth!
