Unlike so many items for children, it has no moving parts, no batteries needed, no cheap plastic that breaks, no need to plug in and every sound that come out is different than the one before. It encourages experimentation and understanding of sound waves and tones and volume.

I have this same instrument but larger.This smaller one give me the same results as my larger one.The Thunder and lightening sounds my frighten a toddler.

it makes a lot of cool sounds, i dont like the appearance i like natural wood a lot more

The media could not be loaded.  While it does not sound exactly like thunder (which I knew before buying and I'm not complaining), it does have quite an impressive and unique thunderous hum to it which is why I bought it. It does sound really cool! The larger thunder tube has a more realistic thunder sound to it which I will get as well later.On another note, as well as being well made, it seems to be made ok but I wouldn't be too rough with it or shake the living heck out it for long periods of time as it may not handle it very long before it breaks.It actually does not require a hard shake to get good noise out of it anyway. Just a gentle shake does it! Have fun!

Had to change from a 5star to 3.At first it worked great... I use it for sound therapy sessions. I guess you get what you pay for... it has now taken on an annoying twangy sound.. time for a new one- will be ordering from a diff company

As someone who is into all kinds of percussion musical instruments and sounds (Hand Drums, Standard drums, Taiko drums, Maracas, and numerous others) when I saw this item (Remo SP-0207-TL Spring Drum thunder Tube) on Amazon for a bargain price I decided to purchase it.I was impressed with the great delivery service receiving it in only one day after ordering it. I never had this particular kind of sound device in the past and I have to say I loved playing this thunder and storm sounds with this thunder tube. The spring tube can be made to sound like a creaking door, and the level and tone can also be manipulated with this sound device.If you like an unusual and fun sound playing device you may want to check out this Remo Spring Drum Thunder Tube. Grandson loved this simple device! A great little science lesson while offering opportunity to engage in music without frustration.

The media could not be loaded.  Fun and unusal instrument in a vibrant tie dye colour. Simply hold it around middle and shake from your wrist not entire arm. You can move your palm on/off the opening of tube to create different sounds vibrations. You can also scrape your finger nail along spring while holding tube still. It noisy and loud and will appeal to kids, not sure patents will agree though.

A perfect gift for a child of parents you really wish to annoy. This is one of those items that just doesn't stop giving. It's really loud and thunderous and kids love it. Buy with confidence. The only thing is that you will have to hang around long enough with said parents as I guarantee the tube will be taken away 10 seconds after you leave.

Brought for my attention autism box and the kids love it and it is very sturdy.

Excellent product that gives you an added dimension to your percussion playing and recording. You’d be surprised how many noises you can get out of this thing!

Great "instrument". Not sure how to play it in a melodious way, but it's great fun, I like it almost as much as my toddler (... can't say the same of our cats of course... they have learned to leave the room as soon as the thunder tube appears =^^= )
