Easy to use and works well.

I'm not a professional plumber, but I am fairly handy around the house. When it comes to unclogging drains, that always falls on my list of jobs to do. Even though it's my wife's hair that clogs the drains 99% of the time, it's my task to make sure they get unclogged. In the past I've used those plastic contraptions that are about two feet long that you can stick down a drain that'll snag the hairs, and pull it back up. Those are effective to a certain degree, though it is a bit of a chore. I've always wanted one of these snake augers, and I'm really happy to have it now. The worst drain to try and do is the shower drain. This of course is the one that gets clogged the most, even with a tub shroom catching most of the hair. Of course, some hair happens to get by it, or gets by it when my wife perhaps forgets to put it in the drain, and causes the water to not drain effectively. Because of the design of my particular bathtub where we shower, it's difficult to get one of those plastic hair catches down there and effectively remove anything. I gave it a try with this snake auger, and it was really easy to use. It does a great job of agitating the blockage, and alleviating any sort of build up. It's so convenient to have an attachment like this that is compatible with a regular drill, and makes the drill and snake do all the mechanical work. I can see why it's a necessary plumbers tool, and I really think it's something that everybody should have. It's well made, and works beautifully. All the heavy lifting is done with the press of a button, which includes retracting the snake back into the system. The spring head easily works its way through the pipes, and is small enough to get through just about any common diameter. All in all, I'd say it's an amazing tool to have and hope you don't need, rather than need and not have. Let's be honest though, I'm sure it's something we can all use. I highly recommend it.

For the record I am not a professional, nor have I ever used a drain snake/auger before. The first auger arrived without a crank handle so I had to do a return/reship, but the second one came with everything included & in good shape. I appreciate all the bonus extra accessories (safety glasses, gloves, plastic drain cleaner thing & brushes). I also love that it comes with a metal grabby thing (although I normally see them with car repair stuff...) - very handy & works great. The product looks & feels like it's really well made and good quality. The instructions are pretty good. I was surprised at how slowly it cranks by hand - I expected the line to go out/in a lot more with how many times I turn it (maybe this is normal?). I do like that you can use it with a power drill to make it go a lot faster. It's fairly easy to use and for the record, it does a really good job. This will prevent us from needing to call a plumber in an emergency draining situation so we can save a lot of money. It's a pretty good price point for how nice it is (much less than a plumber visit!). By nature, it's not the easiest to clean but it's not too bad with a water sprayer & gloves. I'm so glad it comes with a storage bag to keep everything together & contain the ick. Good product - I recommend.

We have called plumbers out for what seemed like minute things and have been charged an arm and a leg. Then it always seemed like shortly after something else would go wrong. Finally we got this auger (we are nowhere near professionals, but do have common sense) and boy are we thankful we did. Prior to the first plumber coming out, we have never had this many plumbing issues in our life mind you, maybe it was just a coincidence...maybe. But this auger came with all the instructions needed, safety gear, etc. you can even do it manually if you would like to do it at your own pace. We have used it one time so far...and that seemed to be all we needed. After nearly 8 months of back and forth with plumbers our issue was solved and no more money down the drain. literally. Should have bought this guy sooner. For our own peace of mind we did look on like just to make sure we were in fact using it correctly to feel better about our lives haha but at least we knew it wasn't us for once and it was the plumbers who were just trying to get money out of us. Definitely worth every penny and will come in handy if and when we ever need it again.

I hate the snake I have to use when my drains clog. It's basically a 10 foot flexible metal snake that I can drive down through drains to clear them. There is not real grip or shield on the snake, so it gets messy when I'm pulling and pushing it, and twisting it with my hands tends to get tiresome. Then, pulling it up, wrapping it and slipping it into a ziplock bag I use for storage always results in the tail of the snake whipping around, spraying drain water and gunk around, and creating a big mess to clean up. When I saw the 25FT Drain Auger come across my data feed, I snapped it up, hoping that it would simplify this dirty, tedious task. My impressions:- This is not just a drain auger, it's a complete drain maintenance kit. In addition to the auger, it contains a variety of drain snakes for various tasks, a set of gloves to protect your hands, a bag to carry everything, and a comprehensive user's guide that is actually pretty good about telling you what tool to use for what job. Nice!- In addition to a hand-crank on the auger, a portable drill (not included!) can be attached to automate turning the crank and extending/retracting the snake. This is nice, though I prefer the hand-crank because there is a higher level of control- The auger very nicely wraps the snake as it is extracted from the drain, so the problem with the tail whipping and spewing unmentionables is solved. This is a real game changer for me.Overall, I am very impressed with this drain maintenance kit. It has everything you need to completely maintain the drains in your house, and a very nice user's guide to help you decide which tools to use. Most importantly, it helps lessen the mess that is made with standard snakes. Highly recommended!
