Very effective set of pruners!
Purchased these Am-Tech pruners as a back up to my existing one - but it has quickly become my main 'go-to' pruner.First thing you notice when holding them, is the rubber grip along the handle. It's advertised on the package as a 'Ergonomic D-handle' - however, it would have been nice to have featured a slightly wider palm grip. As it stands, it feels no more 'ergonomic' than any other I've used.. But the rubber does make it warm and feel firm which is handy not having the whole area that you hold onto made of metal - especially on a cold day when you first pick them up!The blade is non-stick carbon steel. Extremely sharp, and so far held up in performance to everything I've thrown at it. The main difference between this and other standard pruners is of course the ratched action. If you've not used this type of cutter before, it may take a few attempts to get used to, but once you get the hang of it - you'll realise how effortless it is to slice through those stubborn branches and sticks! One of the key differences in the cutting is not just the blade or ratched action - but the fact that there is a carbon steel lining for the blade to press against. On other pruners that I've used, the blade presses down into the aluminium recess ''gully" as it cuts. In those other pruners, you would notice that thin twigs would form into a 'V' as the blade pressed down. With these Am-Tech pruners, those same twigs remain almost straight up to the point of being cut. A very subtle, but key difference!2 other nice extra features that this pruner has is the fold-out stainless steel blade at the top of the cutters and a practical oil & sharpener tool situated in the handle beneath the locking mechanism. The blade is about 45mm long. A nice feature, although to be honest, not had the need to use it so far and it's not the easiest thing to pull out if you're wearing gardening gloves! The the little pull out tool is on the other hand, a real welcome feature. Just dap a few drops of oil onto the pad and wipe the blade next time you finish using it. The tool also has a scissor-style sharpening end for your blade.5 star recommendation.

Good pruners but there is a problem
Really pleased with the pruners apart from one niggle - hence the three star rating. The pruners come with a sharpening/oiling device that fits into the handle of the pruners. The first time I used the pruners this fell out of its recess and dropped somewhere in the garden and I have been unable to find it! My advice to any would-be purchaser would be to remove the device and store it somewhere safe. I shall be contacting the manufacturer to see if they will replace the sharpener/oiler.

Best secateurs to have.
Was thrilled to find these on Amazon as I'd ruined a set I'd bought from garden show many years ago. I know already that they are the best secateurs it is possible to buy and very reasonably priced on Amazon.

High praise
I never knew what ratchet secateurs were but I saw someone praise them on YouTube. Well, I will never go back to ordinary secateurs again, these are a revelation. Extremely sturdy and easy to use. I broke both my wrists a couple of years ago and my mobility has never returned but I was able to use these easily. Would recommend.
