A valuable resource for career-building anthropologists (and others)
You love anthropology. You feel committed to how it can expand understanding and awareness. You want meaningful work in the field. But, you discover there are precious few jobs in academics and often those barely help make ends meet. Plus, you are still working on explaining how anthropology is important to you. You want to tell folks why incorporating the wisdom and knowledge you have worked so hard to accrue matters for your career development. This book demonstrates how anthropology can take you into many different fields and lead to satisfying work as a practitioner outside the ivied halls. Who knew you could successfully incorporate your anthropology into business, marketing, project management, engineering, industry, advertising, cultural resource management, medicine, aerospace research, the CDC, and more? For students, this book offers a guide to identifying a focus and implementing choices to follow through in a particular field such as medicine, user experience (UX), or economic development. For instructors, this book introduces some of the best practices to teach applied anthropology and lead students to finding meaningful work. The tools here have undergone much review. Anthropologists have followed these guidelines with success.Volunteers have created this book, demonstrating the zeal anthropologists epitomize in their desire to introduce the talents and skills its future practitioners to the world of employment. The print book is a good size, not too heavy or bulky, with plenty of white space for writing ideas and insights. A handy reference if a device is not available. But the Kindle edition offers the same material if you prefer that format. What if you are not an anthropologist? The book provides excellent advice on resumes, interviews, networking and more for any pursuit. Maybe after you use it, you might just want to become an anthropologist, too.In full transparency, I state here that I am one of those passionate volunteer anthropologists who has written on project management in museums for this book. I work with the terrific colleagues in the Anthropology Career Resources Network. My portfolio is to recruit bloggers and edit blogs for our website. My only reward is the satisfaction of promoting a field I believe contributes immeasurable value to humanity.

Helpful mix of tools and ideas for students and professors
This book is collaborative, and the expertise of multiple authors shines through in the diversity of domains of practice covered and ideas addressed. There's a "workbook" section filled with exercises that will help anthropology students know more about their own interests and talents, plus a career path explanation section that is easy to flip through for job ideas, many of which aren't always commonly associated with the anthropological toolkit (but should be!). All told, this is strongly recommended reading for undergraduates in anthropology, and essential for those of us who want to open the doors to more career paths for our students.

Great Classroom Resources!
I've used activities in this book for career readiness courses in anthropology at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Students have enjoyed the activities worksheets and the resources documents. "Identify and Rate Your Skills" and "Translating Anthropology SKills to the Workplace" have been student favorites! Several seniors expressed that they wished they had received this book earlier in their studies.
