All of the Dover crochet books by this author are excellent. If you have forgotten how to make the stitches, they are pictured and described in the back of the books. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, and there are numerous designs to interest almost anyone.A relative taught me crocheting years ago, and I more-or-less ignored doilies because I thought they were useless and old fashioned. That is, until I happened to be in Belgium, I forget which town, and noticed that furniture shops and many homes had doilies displayed in their windows. The doilies were fastened to the inside of brass colored macrame rings of various sizes, according to the size of the doilies, and the rings were attached to small, soft-plastic suction cups that were "suctioned" to the inside of the window panes. I thought they were lovely and have a number of them on the various windows of my ranch-style house.For the Christmas season I have crocheted various-sized doilies with metallic thread and sometimes frame the windows with Christmas lights to call attention to the doilies. Some of the doilies have blossoms in the center, and those I have crocheted with bright colors in honor of the season. They really add a festive, tasteful note to the window panes in any season. Doilies are not so old-fashioned, after all.

This book has some promising patterns.

This is another lovely book of old fashioned thread crochet projects for the home. I purchased it at the same time as "Floral Crochet"My only handicap working from this book is the fact I learned to crochet some 30 years ago using the British Terminology of crocheting. Other than that, it has a large selection and variety of projects to choose from - place settings for dining, bedspread, arm-chair covers, doilies etc.I have not worked any of the projects from this particular book but I love to look at it. I recommend this anyone who loves thread crochet.

I’ve used many patterns from this book over the years. I couldn’t find my old copy, and the pages had all fallen out of it anyway, so I was happy to get a new one for a reasonable price. Probably my most often used book.

This book is great! It has everything from simple edgings to doilies, tablecloths and bedspreads. I've crocheted with yarn for years and I've always wanted to learn how to make lacy things like doilies.There is a great variety of patterns to choose from and there is a stitch and abbreviation guide in the back that is very helpful. The patterns in this book will keep me busy for a long time to come.

The Crocheter's Treasure Chest: 80 Classic Patterns for Tablecloths, Bedspreads, Doilies and Edgings (Dover Needlework Series) There are so many old time patterns, my favorite is the cover pattern. I will be making this for a gift for a loved one next year after the holidays. Can't wait to get started! There are so many other patterns in this book that have a "make me" label on them.

The book was in great shape. I have looked for these patterns for years. These are patterns for items that my Grandmother made many years ago.

I guess I was expecting more modern designs. Its not a total loss just not what I wanted.

I found it's difficult to follow instruction without diagram. I cant't do the work without it. I have to return the book because lack of very important information. In product description should make it clear that pattern diagram is not included in this book.The printing is also poor. Black and white color and unclear image is not acceptable.

After seeing a crochet bedspread on You Tube, I desperately searched for the pattern book and thanks to Amazon I found it easily. The book offers loads of bedspreads, doilies and even lace that are easy for anyone who knows the difference between a dc(double crochet) and a tr (treble). I only learned to follow patterns with this book, so if I can do it anyone can.
