This WILL work on a 2003 and 2004 (at least) wrangler.
There are a lot of low ratings of this product saying that it doesn't fit or work correctly. It is a sign of weakness, but you need to read the directions for this installation. For the 2003 and 2004 jeep wrangler(at least), this is the correct product and will work if you plug it in on the PASSENGERS side and not the DRIVER side. Yes, the plug on the drivers side is visible and easy to get to, but it is the wrong one. Only one turn signal will work if it is plugged in there, and I think it was for the wrong side. I have a 2004 4 cylinder model called the 'SE", which stands for 'slow edition'.The installation is a bit tough, but this will make it easier. Remove the jug on the passengers side using a torx 30. This will give you a little more room to work. I also removed the first 4 push connectors holding on the plastic inner wheel well using a pair of cutters to pry the plastic fasteners out. Push this plastic out of the way. Reaching up on both sides of the plastic canister, you can push the connection to the passengers side easier, where you can see it and then take the 'insulation' or whatever off of the connector. It does not look easy and you will not SEE the connector, but it's there. All you need to do is disconnect the existing plug by pushing on the release and pulling it apart. Mine was rather hard to disconnect, but it will work. Plug in the new connector into each end using the grease supplied on the connections and install the grounding screw. I have a number of 3/4" lath self tapping screws that I got at the blue or orange big box store that I found easier to use than the supplied one. I screwed the grounding strap to the thin metal under the plastic canister and covered the whole harness in that plastic wiring tube that is slit along one side. Actually the small size will fit first and the next size larger will fit over it. Get a couple of zip ties and route it so it won''t get caught up on anything and you are done. The only thing you will have left over is an empty bag of grease, some packaging and the the zip ties that are absolutely useless for this application. Save them for the next project.

Was skeptical but this worked very well on Jeep TJ
I installed this kit on my 2001 Jeep TJ. I thought a one-sided connection was not going to work, since other kits connect to both tail lights. This kit worked well. Instructions were clear. There is enough wire to the plug terminal to reach the left side of the hitch receiver. The photo shows the terminal in a little $5 bracket to the left of the receiver.

Jeep TJ trailer plug install.
The difficult part of making this connection is locating the plug which happens to reside behind the metal charcoal canister behind the right (passenger) rear wheel well. I removed the wheel, outer fender, inner fender and then unbolted the canister cover plate. There are additional bolts holding the canister in place (2) but once the canister is free the needed plug can be easily accessed. I could probably skip the outer fender removal and still get access. The needed plug (connection) is covered with a foam tape which must be pealed off. Once removed the plugs are separated ant the trailer connectors inserted. Overall, it’s pretty straight forward but very workable.

Easy to Install once you find the right connection
This connector worked great once I found the right plug to install it in. It is located on the passenger side under the plastic wheel well insert on my 2003 TJ. It is not apparent when you remove the wheel well insert. However a different plug is. The plug I was looking for was pushed up between the rear quarter panel and the frame member. All I could initially see was a cable running through the wheel well and up toward the right tail light. A but of pulling released the correct plug. Then it was a simple matter of unplugging and inserting this adapter. A whole lot easier than tapping into the wiring harness with "T" splices.

Perfect Replacement
I have a 2002 Jeep Wrangler Sport. This was a perfect replacement the old one, once I got the old one off. After 19 years being connected, it was a bit of a challenge getting the old one disconnected. However, once it’s was off, the replacement was back on in less than 2 minutes. Impressed!!

Easy install Jeep TJ Great Product
PERFECT FIT and EASY INSTALL for a TJ 2002 Jeep Wrangler - this is really great engineering and product. Unbolt the rear passenger mud flap, unplug existing harness, plug in this adapter, screw ground into existing bolt (need torx 20 if bumper) and you're in business. I appreciate too that manufacturer included self-drilling screw (not necessary if using existing) and electric grease and instructions and also cap for when trailer is not being used. Fantastic product and strong recommendation for a Jeep TJ.CFO

2003 Jeep Wrangler TJ
Disregard all other’s reviews. I’m here to tell you, from the time I removed from package and completed install was less than 5 min.Passenger side. Behind wheel remove plastic flap. Reach straight up. The wires closest to the rear of the vehicle are it. Less than 4” from the plastic flap. Unplug, apply dielectric grease, plug in new adaptor. DONE. There is a YouTube video to follow if you need it. Use self tapper and install ground wire. Literally took less than 5 min.And boom - everything worked as it should.
