Best for 1st time turners
Overall amazing product. It has everything you need and will pay dividends in the longer run with the mandrel saving feature. First one and last one I will buy compared to other I have seen. I use a cheap large from harbor freight and it fits great and has produced many beautiful pens. I have turn about 50 pens with no issues I have only needed to sand the mandrel a bit to take off some glue that got on it or rust from wet sanding and not cleaning after.

Trimmer Dulled Quickly
Issues with some blanks spinning despite proper tail stock tightening (using mandrel saver). Worst part is how quickly the barrel trimmer dulled. It’s an okay started set but it’s probably more economical to buy a better trimmer from the start.

Works great
I've turned about 10 pens on this and they have all turned out great. I did have to buy some additional spacers, but that was no big deal. This is super easy to use and I've loved it.

Total garbage
Totally useless. The barrel trimmer didn't work at all. And the pen Blanks will NOT tighten enough to turn. There's no instructions either. Total garbage.

This mandrel kit has been working great for my roller ball and fountain pen projects. I haven't had a single problem with this kit.

I have been turning for 6 years but new to pen turning. The mandrel is simple to use, and priced right. The mandrel saver for the tail stock is a good tool. The barrel trimmer does leave a slight ridge close to the brass tube but that was easy to correct on the blank. The drill bit that came with the set is a decent one. I rate this product as a five star.

Quality is great but not a mt2!
I have a MT1 for older mini lathe and ordered a new one for new lathe which was a MT2. In a time crunch and low and behold they shipped an MT1 instead of the MT2 I'm in a REAL bind for the time being haven't contacted them so far. On the good side they are both well made and easy to use, wish it was hardened steel though, easy to bend out of true. A quick tip, oil shank every so often, sometimes the CA glue works its way to shaft an binds up pen barrel and is a real pain to get off

Super fast shipping very sturdy kit
Delivery was super fast and description was right on! The only complaint I have is there are no directions on how to use the kit.
