Solved my sprinkler system issues

Works fine on paper rocket launcher
I used the 1" valve because it lets air through more quickly than the 3/4" one. It works well even with just 18 volts from 2 9-volt batteries in series. Launches rockets really high.

Do it yourself and save if you know you have rainbird valve system
Valve problem ,No problem.Just change the guts one by one. First Shut water , Undo bolts on old , undo bolts on new , take of old guts , install new guts rewire solenoid one at a time . Wire new solenoid installed make sure hand tight. Water on . Green grass and trees love it . Save hundreds of $$$

They seem rugged. One of the four I ordered was missing a bolt.
Rainbird needs to have better QA because one of the four valves I ordered was missing a bolt that keeps the top on. It doesn't seem to be a problem right now.However, my bigger problem is that one of them leaks from the input side. These are threaded and I did use Teflon tape on the mating connector. The leaking is minimal, but I don't want to undo it for fear of compromising the plastic on plastic NPT threads. So, I guess I will get some plumbers putty.I wish there was more than two connection options for these valves. I also wish the connectors were something beyond bare wire. Perhaps some kind of waterproof quick connector. Because the semi waterproof wire nuts make for a rats' nest pretty quickly.

Works good but is noisy
As long as you install it correctly it works great. I didn't see the arrows on the valve and I installed it backwards. Well...... it doesn't work very good that way. After I changed it around it works fine. It vibrates so try to install it outside. I installed it inside and it is noisy.

I always buy these
An excellent basic valve. Although you can buy the solenoid and diaphragm components for a faulty unit, it's not really worth messing with ... so I just replace the whole thing. Don't forget plumbing tape for a nice water-tight seal.
