Very good, considering the price - needed a bit of work
Unlike some reviewers, I found no major defects - the brass bolsters were straight and well glued. and the wood of the handle had no twisting or warping. However, in drying, the kerf for the blade had closed very tight, making it hard to move the blade. Also, all edges (handle, bolsters, and sliding blade) were VERY sharp. I used very gentle pressure on a grinder to remove the sharp corners on the square end - then five minutes with 220 sandpaper smoothed all other edges nicely. I pried the kerf wider, and used folded sandpaper to smooth the inner faces of the kerf. Movement is still stiff , but OK. I noted that the knurled wheel-nut is quite loose on the bolt, but shows no sign of stripping, and the blade locks securely. For the price, it is a good tool.

Does a good job
I was surprised how quickly I used this after ordering. I wanted to make sure I copied each side of my Jay Bates chair to the same angle. With this little inexpensive tool it was a cinch. I highly recommend.

Excellent value for a classic tool.
This represents a superb value for the quality of the tool. However the angle finder is delivered in an unfinished state. The wood (likely IPE or another foreign hardwood) has no finish on the tool whatsoever. The edges are uncomfortably sharp. A sanding sponge to round over the edges, followed by a couple of coats of boiled linseed oil made this beautiful and comfortable to hold.

Functional, but basic
Feels and looks like a lesser quality product. Wouldn't take much to put a better finish on it to look like a high end tool.

It is ok, mass production cheap type of tool.
This sliding bevel do its job for the price, so it is ok. Said that forget about a tool to enjoy as an object, quality and attention to details are just not there. The wood has being cut pretty rough apparently with a not sharp enough blade. It has sharp edges so it need some sanding. The color of the wood is pretty red. I am not an expert in wood but look to me that it has been soaked in ink to give it that color. After sanding the red color is still there whether the ink soaked deep of that wood is that red. You can see the milling marks in the recess where the logo is. Not big deal, a bit of sanding and done. The brass inserts in the lower part are not squared so it gives a poor quality image over all.So yes, it is a functional tool that will get the job done bu won't give you the visual and touch pleasure of a quality hand made tool with good material and attention to details.I forgot to take some pictures in the before. pictures attached are after some sanding.

Quick set and accurate
Lower price than the same product at my local tool supply store. Holds tight to maintain accuracy on transfer to the stock I’m cutting. Fits nice in tight spots and functions better than my old t-bevel with the half wing nut style configuration.

It's just a beautiful tool
I've only used it for a few projects, but it brought a smile each time. There are some tools that aren't used very often, but when you need them and actually have them, my first thought is "Wow, I might actually know what I'm doing". I know that sounds kind of corny, but last fall I took on a project that pushed my skill set and had to transfer a bunch of angles around the project. I was stumped for a moment until I realized I had ordered this tool a few months earlier. Looking back, that was the last moment I thought I was in over my head.

Nice enough but not quite the Cadillac of bevel gauges
I use a cheap plastic bevel gauge regularly and I'm quite happy with it. I bought this as a gift for one of my helpers because I thought it would be a handsome tool he could hold onto, and it seemed to be made of nice materials. It's more or less as advertised but the execution is less than stellar. The good: it works as a bevel gauge. It's wood, brass and stainless steel. The blade has a ruler which may or may not come in handy. The screw holds the blade in place relatively well. The bad: The handle has some sharp edges and unevenness from manufacture that needs to be cleaned up, but this can be done with some sandpaper. The worst aspect is that the brass knob that tightens the blade protrudes from the handle and prevents the tool from laying flat and being used on that side, it's one-sided. This is a problem with many (but not all) bevel gauges, and I'm taking off two stars for this alone because this is a stupid problem to deal with in a very simple tool that should be easy to perfect. I don't need a ruler on my bevel gauge, I need a tool which flips over and fits everywhere I need to use it, without changing the angle on the blade. Overall: it's not too expensive and it works, but the nice materials are compromised by the mediocre finish and functionality.

After that I put a quick coat of wax on it and it looks like a very high end sliding bevel gauge
Mine came with a Padauk (African Hardwood) body which was unexpected for the price paid ($12). The brass was proud of the handle on the edges so I quickly sanded it flush and rounded off the sharp corners. After that I put a quick coat of wax on it and it looks like a very high end sliding bevel gauge.
