Small, simple install, and works.
My old Sony Vaio came with a/b/g wi-fi, and worked ok with our Pre-N Belkin Wireless Router. But my wife's, and daughter's newer Compaq's came with a/b/g/n and were definitely doing a better job at downloading and playing streaming video from Netfilx, Hulu, YouTube, and Amazon Prime. This adapter was less than the price I'm seeing now, for whatever reason, so it wasn't going to set me back much to experiment, and two day shipping was free (Amazon Prime). It did not "Plug and Play" so I had to read and follow the instructions to install the drivers via the accompanying CD. Installation was smooth, without any problems. The adapter found my wi-fi, and after typing in the password start working. Now I can watch videos with only an occasional wait, and not for very long before the video starts playing again. Of course when no one is home but myself, which is rare, the a/b/g would give me the same effect. But, I'm seldom home alone so the this N Adapter was the answer to my problems. Only thing extra I can think of was my Vaio came with Windows Vista and I upgraded it a few years ago with Windows 7 Pro. Also, when I first bought the Vaio I went to Crucial's website, and did the maximum suggested upgrade of RAM. Other than those two upgrades my Intel dual core 1.3 meghtz cpu is the standard out of the box, using the Intel graphics hardware which is nothing special.

I'm running win 10 & win 11. I just plugged it in, entered my PW for Wi-Fi. It's up and running.
I'm running win 10 & win 11. I just plugged it in, entered my PW for Wi-Fi. It's up and running. I don't have my CD attached, so I was unable to view any goodies that may be on it. Fast downloads & uploads. I haven't lost any connections or had any interruptions yet.I would recommend this device to others if they are looking for a good USB Wi-Fi adapter.

Highly recommend Belkin N300 micro wireless adapter
This is my first purchase of a unit like this so I cannot give any comparison to others. I purchased a mid range priced unit to see how it would function before having to get someone out to run cat5 line under house since I had been on DSL. I purchased this due to it's size. I didn't want one sticking out in the front USB port and getting hung up on something. It is very small and fits well in the tight USB ports in the rear with the other ports in use.Works extremely well with my Belkin N150 router on cable hook up. Router is about 25 feet away in different room. It works just as well from a rear USB port on my desktop as a front USB port. My 50meg cable speed dropped slightly, and hovers somewhere in the 40meg to 50 meg range, which was not a great drop from wired. Metal trash can next to PC initially caused drop to 20meg, once removed, speed returned. Easy to set up, easy to use. I have not experienced any issues I have read in others reviews regarding PC being put in sleep mode with this adapter. I have been using it for a little over a month and I have not been disappointed in this little guy.I am not a big tech guy, and I had no real issues getting it set it up.

Works well
I bought this adapter to substitute for a Dell 1703 Wifi card that is built-in to a laptop that had connection stability and throughput problems. This particular version of the N300 adapter (where the adapter part is about the size of your thumbnail, some Amazon pictures wrongly show an even smaller adapter) has thus far been a solid performer, providing a stable connection with 5-10x the performance of the problematic Dell card. I haven't done an extreme signal range test with it, but range seems to be at least comparable to other adapters that I've used.I found that although the drivers Belkin provides for this adapter appear to be stable, they were a bit old (March 2012) and offered virtually no configuration options. The N300 uses a Realtek 8192CU chip, and if you Google "Realtek downloads" to get to Realtek's site, then browse to Communication Network ICs->Wireless LAN ICs->WLAN NIC->IEEE 802.11b/g/n Single-Chip, then you will find a zip download with the RTL8192CU driver with support for Windows XP through Windows 8. I had success with this driver personally on both Windows XP SP3 and Windows 7 x64. Use the Device Manager to uninstall the Belkin driver (if you previously installed that), then use the device manager again to Update Driver and browse to the location where you unzipped the Realtek download. I recommend doing it this way the first time rather than running Realtek's setup application, otherwise it seems that the Realtek setup application may not find your adapter. I managed to install the Realtek application software afterwards to check it out. It lets you manage connection profiles, see nearby networks, view adapter statistics, and appears to include an AP mode option, though I did not try that personally. However, the application doesn't offer much more than Windows already provides so unless you really need it it's probably better to install the driver only. One drawback to any USB wireless adapter is that they do seem to draw more power than built-in wifi cards in my experience, and this one does reduce the battery runtime of the laptop I installed it in by about 10% (estimated, with built-in adapter turned off), which is not too bad but not great either. Unfortunately, unlike some other adapters I have used, neither the Belkin or the Realtek driver/application provide any kind of power management/saving options for the device other than letting Windows turn it off completely.I give it 4/5 stars because I'm happy with it and was able to use the latest Realtek driver, but I was hoping for some power management/saving options since it's going to be used in a laptop.Update: As far as range goes, this adapter is acheiving good signal and stable connections in an area of our home that normally has low signal with other adapters, so no complaints there. I would go so far as to say that as someone who has a dual band N router, this Belkin adapter performs so surprisingly well on the 2.4GHz band alone that I would happily buy again, even though it doesn't support the 5GHz band. (using Realtek's drivers).

Worked perfectly out the box in a linux environment!
Needed this dongle for a linux environment and it worked perfectly! Just a little tweak was needed to get this going. So far there's been never been a dropped connection!
