Dimensions Vintage Family Tree Counted Cross Stitch Kit 9” x 12”

As per the Mother in Law's Christmas gift request (made in August!), I was appointed to be the family historian and to make a simple family tree. The Dimensions Counted Cross Stitch is an easy to complete cross stitch project. All the floss comes already sorted by number and the instructions are straight forward and easy to follow. There is a page where you can lay out the names of the people you want on the tree, and you can cut them out and cover whatever part of the tree that you want. This set comes with a needle, blank fabric, and all the floss you'll need to complete the project. You will need a frame to stretch out the fabric as you work, as well as a frame with mat to complete for gifting.This cross stitch does not have large areas that need to be filled in - the only real elements that require large amounts of stitching are the white blocks in which you will put the names in. The remaining sections include the tree elements including flowers, leaves, birds, grass, and branches. How long it takes you to complete really depends on the amount of time you invest in in and how fast you stitch. I've found I'm blazing through this project faster than other projects as there are smaller sections that require less counting and no half stitches. The project does require you to stitch with both single and double thread stitches (some of which use two different colors).Overall, this is a very beautiful project to work on, and I like how you can pick and choose where to place each name. If you want to have a nice tree with heart project, you can also eliminate the name blocks entirely.

I made this for my parents' anniversary with their kids & grandkids names! It was very fun to make with clear, easy instructions. It does take a little time to plan out where you want to put all the names, but that part was totally worth it. The patterns shows the whole tree without any name boxes, so you have to map out where all the names go, but I prefer it that way, so I could completely customize it to fit our family (rather than squeeze our family names into a pre-set number of boxes). This also allows you to put it wherever you want, so you can choose which parts of the design you want to "cover up" or not. I've never been disappointed in a Dimensions cross stitch kit! It turned out beautiful! I would definitely recommend for any family-tree-type project. It would also be a cute wall hanging without any names, or with a scripture verse or quote instead.

Great little kit. Instructions are easy to follow. I haven't done one of these in years and it was not a problem figuring things out. Needle came broken so if you are going to travel with this make sure the kit is complete before you go. The colors are nice together and you will have the option of what part of the design will be covered up for YOUR family tree. I have been working on it pretty diligently at night and it took 2.5 months to finish. The floss comes pre-sorted. It fit nicely in an 11x14 standard black frame without a mat.

Soooo pretty. Just like picture. You can place names wherever you want. I swapped out the vintage white base for a true white background.

Very cute pattern. You can personalize for your family. As a genealogist, I wanted to make an accurate family tree - I'm not sure how you're supposed to "read" the example as an actual historical record. I figured out a way to place the names so it will "read" accurately, though! Floss comes on an organized floss bar - yay! Easier to know which floss to use! Easy instructions and fairly clear chart - wish they printed in more colors, not just blue, black, and pink!

Very pretty. Challenging, personal, nicely organized. Need to get a hoop. My daughter was very happy with it on christmas. She started on it right away and looks like it is going to be very nice.

I bought this to make as a Christmas gift for a family member. I'm a beginner cross stitcher, but I find this very easy to do. You are able to personalize where you want the name boxes to go anywhere on the tree. It's a very easy and clear pattern to follow.

As a beginner, I found this easy to complete and have very much enjoyed it. Because each individual flower and leaf is isolated, you can easily work one element at a time and the chart is easy to follow. I am now working the details stitching and it is looking really good, I have made it as a gift for a family member.

Very colourful. Like it so you can put names where ever you like. Shame it's not bigger so you can add more names with out losing the tree . Would recommend

I swapped out the supplied fabric but otherwise used the kit as intended. It's way more beautiful in person and the finished product is amazing. Lots of extra floss left over.

Love the embroidery set, and everything is included in the set. Very pleased with my purchase
