Tech 21 SansAmp GT2 Tube Amp Emulator Pedal

Incredibly Authentic Tones for a variety of uses
I've owned a Fender HRD, a Mesa Subway Rocket, a Mesa 20/20, and a mid-nineties Marshall combo, this pedal not only mimicked those sounds exactly but did a BETTER job.In the electric guitar player's spectrum there are sound-tweakers and raw players. I approach the purchase of a guitar pedal with the knowledge that I fall dead center within that spectrum -- sometimes I want to quickly dial something in and just play; other times I'll spend a solid 20-30 minutes dialing in a specific tone. I've used amp-modeling pedals before but ALL of them sounded a little too thin, a little too inorganic, and they were far too digital (both in sound and operation). The GT2 is brilliant. You get 3 amp styles (Fender, Mesa, Marshall), 3 styles of each (Clean, Dirty, Overdriven), and 3 mic placements which change the presence, airiness, and distance of your sound. More importantly, the Drive knob acts exactly as it would on these 3 different amps. On the Fender clean, the drive can be cranked up to 12 O'Clock and it's still clean while on the Mesa (even clean) the Drive knob gets gritty as early as 9-10 O'Clock.I run this directly into Logic for recording and have been consistently impressed with how authentic and rich these tones sound (far better than any Logic amp simulators, BTW).If you're a tube amp purist (well, you're probably not if you're reading reviews on this), then you probably will never find a replacement for that tone you get from your amp when cranked up to 11 O'Clock (which happens probably 4 times a year). If you're tired of trying to mic noisy tube amps to record, if you play with headphones, if you play directly into a PA or DAW, or even if you're happy with your tube amp but want to bypass the pre-amp and use the GT2 as an incredible change-up, this pedal is for you.I've used my Fender Mustang Bass on this as well and got great tones with the Fender amp settings.MY ONE WISH: that this pedal had 3 banks to store sounds, just for more immediate access to your common settings. Unfortunately, it would likely take away from the aesthetics. Perhaps an external expression or MIDI connection to connect to a 3-button stompbox (Tech 21, of course).

SansAmp GT2
Until a few days ago, i was using Line 6 pod for recording purpose and i was happy with it, plugged my guitar into the pod and directly into my Motu 828. The results was quiet good and it worked out for me over years. But as I am setting up a pedelboard with a good few analog pedals to get ready to be back on stage after 5 years of composing and recording i want to use the pedalboard as well for recording and practicing with headphones. POD doesn`t make it sound right at this point. It`s good on its own but with a wah, eq, echo tap delay, reverb and overdrive in chain its not working well. And here were SANS AMP GT2 brought the solution for me. It`easy to use and the 3 amp models are enough for my needs. Right as they tell in the manuel i put it AFTER the wah, and OD and before the echo, reverb and eq. It's fantastic. The recomended presets are great. The recording sound is even better than to mic up my tube amps.( and much quieter) I purchased this pedal just a few days ago, so i did`nt check it out with an amp. I think i gonna use it mainly for recording and to plug strait into a PA. But i suppose it works good as OD as well and gives me an extra channel in live situations. For noise in high gain mode i have a boss noise gate pedal in my signalchain. But i found the SansAamp not to noisy at all.If you`re looking for a convincing tube amp emulacion and at the same time you would like to use your favorit stomp boxes, this little box is a realy good go and for the quality it gives it`s not expensive at all.J.FMADRIDSPAIN

Great for crunchy and saturated tones
I use this as a substitute for a real amplifier in my home studio when I need to record guitar because cranking up an amp is not an option. I was underwhelmed at first, but after several days of experimentation, I uncovered it's true potential and am getting great tones from it now. My favorite setting is the Marshall simulation with the speaker emulation and gain switches in the middle position and all Diles at about noon. This gives a rich, smooth saturation that sits well in a mix with other instruments. Another favorite is the Fender model with the gain switch set to the "hotwired" position. Really great for Hendrix-style tube warmth. my only complaint about the pedal is the clean channel of the Fender setting. It is very quiet and you have to turn up both the volume and gain all the way to get a decent level… And at that point it's not entirely clean Anymore since the gain is maxed. Still, you can overcome this by turning up the input gain on your mixer or using a clean boost pedal before the SansAmp. Overall I am pleased with this purchase and I would recommend it for otherS doing home recording Who cannot crank up a stack in a residential neighborhood.

Perfect for home recording with NO amp
Love, love, love this! I am a bass player in a few bands but i record demos for my band on guitar when I write a song, for them to learn. This is perfect I sound lile Im playing on a $6000 Mesa and its jist this little pedal! I could also use it into an amp if I ever wanted to get a stack or something, like I do on bass.

Great for home recording without too much setup.
Just what I wanted for home recording. I plug this into a USB interface connected to the computer. Tone and overdrive are adjustable. It comes with a settings manual to choose different amp or musical styles. Setting up real amps and mics takes a while and you have to experiment to get just the right sound. Not to mention ambient noise coming through mics. This, just plug in and start recording. You can also play bass through this pedal and it sounds great.
