The Condensed Handbook of Measurement and Control

I took the PE Control Systems exam in October 2018 and passed.My advice is that you definitely buy this book, and it should be the first book you read when you begin prepping for the exam. It does not have example problems and solutions. It does not provide many formulas. It does not dive deep into anything, really. It is just a good, all around summary of all you will need to know for the exam.I like that for the most part the author does get to the point rather quickly on a topic. Look, here are the type of instruments that can do this function. This kind is better for this, this other kind is better for that, and so on. This one is cheaper, this one is more expensive, more maintenance, maintenance free, and so on. It does not get bogged down by the math and science. Rather, its aim is to get you generally familiar and cover the most important aspects only. It turns out, a lot of the question on this test are like this If you need a to measure flow for this application, which of these four kinds is the cheapest. Only this book of all the books I brought with me could answer those questions. I probably answered ten questions on the exam from this book, which makes it a total must bring in my opinion.Absolutely buy this book and read it first if you want to pass the exam. After you pass, this is keeper. Its got tons of good information that will serve you down the road.

I purchased this for the PE Control Systems exam and constantly referenced it throughout the test. I brought a bunch of books to the exam and only used a handful - this is one of them.

This book is an excellent overview of measurement and control. If you are looking for a book full of formulas and equations then this is not your book. It is a 30,000 ft look at measurement and control.I highly recommend buying this book whether you are beginning to study for the PE or and experienced professional.

I always thought of handbooks as 1000+ pages but hey, not anymore this one covers the most practical and commonly used approaches for measurements and control, together with some practical experience made it good enough to make it's way to my bookcase.

This is one of the best instrumentation books i have owned. I go through it everytime i have an interview for an Instrumentation Engineer/Designer job. However the kindle version is not the best., i have a huge time trying to read the tables in the kindle version, they are just not clear and unreadable. I hope a better quality table can be provided or the version i bought (kindle one) can be updated with more clear tables
