Only used 3 times before it died
I received my pink 7 speed mixer for Christmas in 2008 as a gift. By Thanksgiving of 2009 it was dead - after using it only THREE times to mix regular cake mix batter out of the box - nothing fancy or heavy. With my fourth use of this mixer, it would not stay turned on for more than 2 seconds at at time and according to their instruction book, it shouldn't be used when this happens. So my thinking is that it must be a frequent problem if it's in the book.Kitchenaid, although very nice on the phone, would not replace the mixer without proof of purchase because according to the serial number, it was more than a year old. I was told that they do not repair these mixers or send parts for them. They did however, offer me a new mixer at a discounted price of $51 (plus shipping, I suppose). I don't know if I want to invest more money in a product that did not serve me well from the beginning so I'm still weighing my options. I'm leaning towards trying a different brand.

Bought September 2006; Died June 2009
I liked this mixer, and like a previous reviewer already stated, it was great while it lasted. Alas, it only lasted for 2 years and 9 months. I suspect the problem was the electronic controls, rather than the motor itself. If Kitchenaid made another hand mixer with non-electronic controls, I would have bought it as a replacement. Instead, I went with the Cuisinart 5-speed hand mixer, which has manual speed controls.

Updated Review
Updated review on mixer. The beaters break and bend easily if mixing anything thick such as batters or cookie dough

What's not to Like: you've got price, performance and its quiet
What's not to Like: you've got price, performance and this machine is quiet. My Old Mixer, a Black and Decker (Permit me to insert a little ditty here about Black & Decker. There was time, no so long ago, when Black and Decker was among the most respected brands on the market - well deigned, easy to use and best of all, durable. That was then, now, their products are made and designed in Asia and as one professional reviewer stated " B&D now has earned a reputation for producing tools of much lower quality than in their earlier years") That said, after 3 years of light use my B&D Mixer smoked for the last time, coughed and died. The trash can burial was swift. Then my search (reading mixer reviews) brought me to buy this modestly priced KitchenAid. I got it on sale at Macy's and what a joy it is to use. It is powerful but quiet, isn't this an oxymoron for blenders. The mixer feel good in your hand and I would have gave it a 5 star if it had a retractable cord for storage. Yep, storing it is a bit of a hassle.... so hail to the new KingAid. Highly recommended

One of my favorite kitchen products!
KitchenAid makes some of the best kitchen products out there and I am proud to make purchases from the "Cook for the Cure" line. The mixer is very easy to use, mixes ingredients thoroughly and is so much quieter than other mixers. My current kitchen cannot accommodate the KitchenAid stand mixer just yet so this product is a perfect alternative for now!

Nearly Worthless
I'm online right now to purchase a new hand mixer to replace this piece of junk. We've suffered through using it for a few years and cannot stand to use it one more time. The motor is weak. The beaters are poorly designed and do not mix ingredients as well as other mixers I've had in the past (that I wish I had kept instead of supposedly "upgrading"). The last straw is that now the beaters don't stay clicked into the unit and have fallen out a few times while in use! ~~ a major safety issue. If all you want to mix is a few eggs, this mixer will be fine, but then you'd be better off and a penny wiser to simply use a whisk. If you plan on using it for anything aside from liquids, look elsewhere. Vastly overpriced for its mediocre, and now dangerous, performance. This isn't the first horrible KitchenAid appliance we've had the misfortune of having, but it is definitely the last.

Great while it lasted
I bought this mixer in Feb. 2007 because of all of the good reviews at Consumer Search. It worked very well until June 2008, when the power button died. I do not use the mixer heavily at all, maybe once or twice a month. Given the price, I thought it would last much longer. It lasted just long enough not to be under warranty any longer. I am very disappointed, and I certainly won't spend another $70 for this mixer.
