Best upgrade for the Yamaha Bolt

I don't write many reviews for the products I purchase but I feel this deserves one. Installation was extremely easy. As other reviewers stated the setup can be a bit confusing but there are many videos available online to assist with the programming. I've ridden my bike roughly 70 miles with the new speedometer installed and found that it is easily viewable and all light conditions. One area I had issues with was trying to determine the correct tire size in millimeters to calibrate the speed. I found some threads on line that stated 63% to 64% is the best value. I set the speedometer at 63% and it's dead on. I highly recommend this product.

Very easy to install

This is very easy to install plug and Play, take your time program and you're good to go. First thing do not use the silver spacer and washers that come with it. Use the nuts and the old washer that came with the factory speedometer. Throw the silver spacer in the trash. It will not Mount properly if you use it. I install it in less than 40 minutes ( 5 minutes removing that stupid silver spacer) it's very easy to set up the basic programming and it just speed and gear shifting. But you have to ride around and tweak it to get it close to accurate of a Swiss watch I've had it one day and put about 20 miles on it and I'm very pleased it's worth every penny and it makes the bike look sharp. I wish it had a gas gauge, it has the same low fuel that came with the OEM speedometer. But you can set it for tire wear maintenance schedule a few of the bells and whistle enjoy enjoy.

The tach that should have come standard!

5 out of 5Tach is accurate, lots of information on hand, Shift light and warning features are great. Lots of customization available. The Speedo can be a little tricky to set up accurately , but a simple search on an scr950/bolt forum on dialing it in will help immensely. Mine is reading about 1mph off, which is just fine. This gauge is a worth every penny.

Best Investment

Great Product! Way better than the OEM display. The old one only showed, speedometer, Odometer. Super basic stuff. This one was way better. The RPM meter is surprisingly helpful. Great LED lights and additional colors were helpful. Gas light was more alarming than old one, but I admit I feel like it’s too sensitive, might be the floater from inside the gas tank. Oh well. Still, Highly recommend. Truly a plug in Play. Super easy to install. Goes right in from OEM frame. Although I admit the cord is a little too long. But that’s fine. Just tape it up to something and you’re good to go.

Yamaha, take notes!

This is the gauge that should've come with the bike. The stock one is hands down the worst feature of the Bolt and you have to stare at that ugly screen every time you ride. This installed very easily, the UI was a little tricky to figure out but I had the odometer showing correct mileage within 20 minutes or so. I didn't do the gear change setup, but this little thing figured it out all by itself and is very accurate. My only wish is that it was cheaper, but still worth it to get rid of that useless, ugly stock display.

it works... maybe.... ok i guess

First off the good... I can see it in the day! which is the main reason I got it. but the bad is I can see it and im not confident the info its giving me is accurate. my bike is 2014 yamaha bolt. The tach i believe is giving me good info, the speed im not so sure, even after reading up on it and setting it to 63% (default is 64) ithink its not correct i will confirm with radar gun (advantage of having a friend thats in highway patrol. The temp gauge is WAAAY off reading at 255 F. Bolts normal temp is about 180-190. above 230 cooking oil to point its breaking down fast soo no way is the gauge correct at 255F . gear selector and speed indications lag... about 1-2 seconds for speed sometimes more, gear selector, well I counted more then 10 Mississippi at times. So is it worth $300? not so sure and im thinking sending back as primary reason i got it was Knowing my speed in the day, engine temp, RPM. I will update when I have more info.

Found a better way to calibrate speed

Pretty easy to install and adds so much more and better instrumentation. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was the calibration. After installing it indicated I was going 70 mph down my residential street—no way.The instructions give this bogus method measuring the circumference of the sheen and applying a formula. Using that method for me nowhere.I resorted to mounting my cell phone and using an app (Waze) to report my speed. I calculated the percentage difference and used that to calibrate. I ended up adjusting the setting from 100% (stock/default) down to 65%. I have no idea why the stock calibration was so far off. But now that it is calibrated it is a nice addition.Next thing to figure out is the temperature reading, which seems really high. And I think there is a fuel gauge. Again, documentation is not good.
