Sammy the Seal (I Can Read Level 1)

My son’s favorite childhood book. He is 36 now. Bought fir his first child!

Had this book when i was a kid

We're big fans of the "I Can Read!" paperbacks, and started to run out of new "My First" level books. I looked at the Level 1, Beginning Reading, books and happened upon these two oldie but goodie books from Syd Hoff."Danny and the Dinosaur" first came out in 1958, and was followed a year later by "Sammy the Seal". I was delighted to see them reissued as "I Can Read!" books. They are a particularly good deal because they are twice as long as the usual "I Can Read!" books, but are still available at the regular paperback price.In "Danny and the Dinosaur" a kid meets a live dinosaur at the museum and heads out into the City with him for a day of wild/mild adventure. In "Sammy the Seal" a friendly seal who's curious about life is allowed a day out of the zoo so he can wander around and explore. Both books feature kind and friendly kids, helpful adults, cheerful adventures and no drama. Is this a 50's sort of thing? Well, yes, the books do have a bit of a nostalgic rose-colored-glasses feel to them, but they aren't glaringly old-fashioned and they've actually aged awfully well.So, these are two books that you might recognize from your own childhood library, they aren't franchise or movie tie-ins, they are readable at the recommended

My 6 year old grandson loved it. Very interesting story.

This was my favorite book 35 years ago & I purchased it for my 2 year old son. I’m tickled that he is very into books and loves to have us read to him! Reminds me of myself. This brings back such warm memories ones that I will cherish the rest of my life. I’m guessing my little one will read this to his babies in 30 years. Keep it going for many generations.

This book really means a lot to me my mom used to read it to me when I was little back then I thought it was the best book I’ve ever read I just recently purchased it again to give to my great niece in hopes that you find it is great as I did

If it matters at all to you, this book didn't look as it does in the picture. The blue sky that is pictured on the cover is actually a metallic silver on the one I received. Other than that, the contents of the book is just as I remembered it to be years ago.

This is the book I read to granddaughter 11 years ago now I have a 3 week old grandson and I read it to him I love this story

Great book

Very sweet book with great classic illustrations

日中はオーディオブックを流して、夜、布団の中では私が読み聞かせ。そうすれば、私の変な発音ではなく、ネイティブの正確な発音を吸収してくれると思ったのでCDpackを購入しました。簡単な単語で構成されていて、かつ総単語数も少ない絵本ですから、読み聞かせにはもってこいだと思います。ストーリーも面白く、絵も可愛いので大人が読んでも癒されます。オーディオブックには、朗読にページをめくる音が入っているものと、朗読だけの２種類が収録されています。ただ、朗読の声が小さいので、はっきり聞き取れません。子供が喜ぶようBGMを付けたのだと思いますが、主役である朗読の方を、もうちょっと引き立てて欲しかったです。

Sweet story. Good read.

この本は、私自身も小さい時に読んでいたので自分の子にも読ませてあげたいとクリスマスプレゼントの一部として購入しました。ストーリーは、面白いしCDが付いているので私が読み聞かせできない時でも一人でCDを聴きながら読めるのが良いと思いました。問題点は、商品その物にありました。新品の物を購入したはずなのに開けてみたら本のバッグカバーにベトベトした物が付いていました。恐らく本とCDが入ってきたビニールケースのマジックテープを装着する為のノリが原因かと。そして、そのビニールテープ部分もずれていてキレイにケースを閉じる事が出来ません。もう一つのマイナス点は、バッグカバーの上のところが少し破れていた事です。本当は、包装してクリスマスまで開ける予定は無かったのですがこんな状態で届いたので心配になりCDを一度視聴してみました。幸いCDには、問題ありませんでした。本来なら、返品して交換してもらいたいところですが自分の子の為に購入した物ですし本人は、気にしないと思うので今回は、このままにします。
