Versatile, well built.Love it.
This works very well as a music stand for my synthesizer workstation. The station is on a desk, and I needed a flexible stand with a long reach. When I need the sheet music, I can pull it close. When I need to be able to use the controls while playing, I can move it back just enough. I tried a different stand, and it just didn't have the versatility of this stand. It is well-built and sturdy. The arms hold my music well. They can even hold notebooks of music in place. I highly recommend it.

a relief for long reading
It may seem silly to some people to have something like this, but if you read for long hours, this makes life much more comfortable! Holds the heaviest of books!

quality, thought out process
This product deserves a top review. Packaged great, the toughest part of putting together was getting out of package. That means it was secure, no shipping damage, well thought out! The most impressive piece is the base. Plenty heavy enough, could have been made much cheaper, most buyers wouldn't have a clue, but the manufacturers knew where to put the money, the base. Thought out! Next are the polls which work very smoothly, nothing flimsy, thought out! The resistance is perfect, which means when you adjust where you want the book platform, it stays put, thought out! The book platform is a great size, can handle most books, it swivels to perfection, no need for the straps in my situation which is sitting in a chair, thought out! Now for those who want to lay down to read, the book holders are perfect, thought out! All and all, a thought out product. Only took about five minutes to assemble. If I could read two books at the same time, I would have another one. Thanks product makers

Ugh - So Good
Best damn thing I've bought in years. Great for reading in bed. I use a red head lamp to read at night while the wife is sleeping. Ugh - So Good.

This book stand changed my life, no exaggeration. 7 stars
I love to read, but I have a messed up spine and hands, and it is difficult and painful to hold books up to read. My collection of failed apparati to remedy this issue includes tabletop stands, pillows, and clamp arms. None of them worked very well, and I got out of the habit of reading over the years. I recently had an idea that there had to be a floor stand version of what I had, and that might work. But in my search, I found something far superior.I hesitated at the cost, but recalled that you usually get what you pay for.I would now pay twice as much for a new one if something happened to my beloved book stand! We actually call it the Book Stand of Legend. I’ve had it for nearly a year now, and I can’t go a day without using it. I’m devouring books at the rate I did as a kid, and it’s utterly fantastic. It holds the heaviest 1000 page hardbacks I’ve put on there without even trying. The Velcro straps at first seemed clumsy, but they work incredibly well for holding hardbacks. I did trick it out a bit with magnets to hold paperbacks securely, and that is literally the only improvement I would suggest. The weight of the base keeps it completely sturdy it’s the arm fully extended. The page arms are AMAZING!!! All three exclamation points completely necessary. My fingers are particularly weak, and I can easily change the page one-handed while drinking coffee with the other hand. The book support tabs work quite well for hardbacks, again slightly less well for paperbacks, but my added magnets hold those just fine, and the tabs fold down when you don’t need them. The caster wheels are also wonderful, and allow me to move this remarkably heavy stand easily with almost no effort at all, even to other rooms, though I had a very hard time moving the base plate at all during assembly, and I’m not sure I could pick it up now if I tried. I can swing the arm smoothly and easily to tuck it away when not in use. It is a permanent fixture in my reading corner, but takes up less space than an ottoman. If you’re digging through reviews because you’re actually considering buying this, just do it. You’ll thank yourself later.

Works fine with a few exceptions.
Put together the book stand yesterday after delivery. Which was well packed. Bookstand easily moves and fits under bed and shelf which is great. It hold a book however screws that hold book mark holder stick outs in the back of the stand and you can get scratched by the screws which not safe so zi had to tape foam in tge front and back so i wont get scratched which is a major issue. Also a heavy book if you extended the swind arm the base of the unit will tip over so positioning the arms is critical if you are using a heavy book like a study bible.

Huz says it's the best gift of our marriage!
My husband loves to read in the recliner fully reclined and has been complaining for years that his arms get tired. He's been dreaming of something to hold his books basically over his face, and this item does not disappoint. Can hold books and magazines well without falling towards him or slipping off. Is well engineered, sturdy, with many points for adjustment and a solid base (so far). Was a bit expensive, so I had high expectations. He will read more, and watch less TV as a result, so that's a good thing. We added a clip-on reading light. Two thumbs up.

Sturdy and Impressive!
This baby is seriously beefy - it's large and sturdy and would probably hold just about any size of book, except perhaps the Gutenberg Bible. While it's well-constructed and impressive, I still rather blanched at the price. If we weren't literally getting it for somebody who can't hold a book anymore, I would have passed on this expensive bit of hardware. Just for hands-free convenience, it wouldn't have been worth it, for my own personal use - but for NECESSITY, and for someone dear, it more than meets our hopes and expectations. One word of warning: although it's large, heavy, and sturdy, when you're adjusting a decent-sized book is on the book stand, it can overbalance while extended - even with the heavily-weighted base - so be careful. The wheels are nice, and the brakes lock and really hold, and I don't worry about it breaking, so we're pretty happy with it. It extends nicely, is quite adjustable, and is overall a good product. Having to turn pages with your left hand (per the instructions) can get a bit fatiguing for a right-handed person, though.
