Swix XC wax is old school but it still works
My only real criticism is the packaging: I wish they included purple, blue and green or white wax. I never use Swix red – it's a nightmare removing that bubblegum! Red klister picks up all manner of filth from the trails – dust, pine needles, bird poop, you name it. Removing purple is difficult enough using a putty knife, but getting purple or red wax gunk off the blade is a challenge unto itself. The synthetic cork is functional, if a downgrade from real cork. Buy a real cork if you prefer a feel closer to “palming” in the wax.Suggestion to Swix: package purple-blue-green waxes together and leave out the red goop. People can always buy red or white waxes as an addition if they need those.

Great brand and good basic set of waxes
I started using Swix waxes 50 years ago for cross country skiing. Then, the waxes were a bit of a mystery as there were many but for me, with then wooden skis, they all worked about the same. This kit has three waxes which REI describes as: V55 Red Special wax is designed for grip/glide around 32°F; V45 Violet Special wax works best between 21 and 32°F; V40 Blue wax is best for colder days between 10 and 28°F.So basically, one for when it’s freezing or a little warmer — that’s when ice tends to clump under your ski. So this will kick it loose. One for a little below freezing — that’s when you’re going to get a lot of kick and so this wax will give you some glide. One for colder days when it would be hard to generate enough kick without some extra boost. This makes sense and, I hope, will be easy to remember which to use when.

Good wax bad cork
Classic kick wax with a modern “junk” cork I suggest buying a real one also

NOT for alpine skis - XC only!
There is no english on package and description here is vague. Unfortunately I bought this and melted it onto my alpine skis and followed instructions online. Took me hours to realize what went wrong when I went to scrape it off and it was more like trying to get gum off the bottom of my shoe vs. how all the videos of waxing skis online showed. No where makes this clear online, Shame on SEO of Google maybe, but kick / grip wax like this is for XC skiing! unreal. What a freaking mess I have now SMH.

Good value
This “beginners” kick wax kit would have cost a lot more if bought separately. I wish it came with detailed instructions. The wax and synthetic cork work great.

Hard to find
The wax is the real stuff from Norway. Cork though is man made. That's ok, I wanted the wax not the cork

Well done...
Living in a snow belt region of Canada, with a personal love to for active living this is a perfect kit for my winter needs. The seller was awesome - the order was slightly delayed and I received a very prompt reply from the seller with options. The tracking suggested to wait and in the end all arrived well packed only a few days late). Great product and awesome service :)
