This 18 inch vent is sturdier than the ones that our home came with. It is better designed too. Easy to open the entire front and clean inside it.

After purchasing a my new-to-me 1970's home, my buddy suggested instead of painting the existing vents, to just buy new ones. The old ones were nasty, covered with 50 years of smoke and dirt. These were around $20 each and I needed 4. I actually scrubbed and painted one of them, and realize he was right lol It was a lot of work for little reward. Anyway, I had to remove the old housing, then attach these to the floor with 2 screws (not included). No worries, I'm a guy and I have screws everywhere for stuff like this. Now the house is looking like new with fresh paint, new baseboards, new outlets and covers, light switches, ceiling fixtures, and freshly refinished floors. The added touch of new vent covers is finishing off the look. I feel like my home is brand new. Yes there is still more to do, but it really does look like it was just built new this year.

I ordered this register as a replacement for an old beat up one of the same size.I was confused as to how to remove the grille, but you simply move the damper lever all the way up, and the grille and damper will just pop out with some force.There are no instructions with this, but there are two long painted white screws that come with it.
