Scholastic Perfect Poems For Teaching Phonics

There are some good finds in this book. However, I have seen better if not the same resources online for free.

I loooooove using this book to guide my ela interventions!!! My students are gaining a better understanding of phonics and phonological awareness!!! They are engaged in the poem reading and activities to follow!!!

haven't gotten to use much but I like what I see. This will be something I look into more over the summer to find out how to incorporate it better.

Great for my young learners!

I like the way this book offers extension activities and suggestions for use of the poems. I like that the target phonics skill is not in bold font or so blatant as to beat the child over the head & give them the "answer". It allows the child to apply their knowledge of the taught skill by looking carefully at the text.

I was expecting a workbook full of poems, instead there are a handful of poems and the rest are activities and coloring pages about the themes of the poems... which are great, but I wanted more meat... I was expecting poems along the lines of the "Goose on The Loose" and Bob Books. I guess I should have read the description more closely!! If I wanted a coloring book and activity book, I could have gotten one for far less than $10... Maybe I am being too harsh, I will surely get some good use out of it as rainy day activties with my kids that will help reinforce some phonics. I guess it just wasn't what I expected.

it helped to continue to teach phonics in the fun way it should be. everyone runs out of steam sometimes and this put vigour and excitement and fun back into it

Some great poems for the children and the children have enjoyed learning some of these

I'm quite disappointed with this book, very simplistic and amateurish.
