The Yokogawa CW240 power quality analyzer (also called a power meter) with two current probes records power consumption and power quality of single-phase or three-phase 2- or 3-wire circuits for installing and maintaining electrical systems. It measures voltage (including crest factor, peak value, and K-factor); energy demand; frequency; power factor; displacement power factor; harmonics and harmonic distortion; phase angle; and active, reactive, and apparent power; and tracks events such as inrush current, sags and surges, overvoltage, and interruptions. The meter provides measurements in real time and accepts a CF (compact flash) card (sold separately) for recording readings to track changes in the individual electrical properties of a power system or the overall power quality provided by the system. The unit checks for proper wiring to help ensure measurement accuracy, and voltage and current can be displayed as a waveform. Measurements can be viewed on the meter's backlit, color LCD, which is readable in low light. All parameters are measured simultaneously, for an overall picture of power quality in the system. Two Yokogawa CW240 units can be connected to perform measurements on two power lines at the same time. Readings can be displayed in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Korean, and Chinese. The unit comes with four test leads with alligator clips for taking voltage measurements, and a range of current sensors (sold separately) can be used with the meter to measure current or power. Two analog inputs allow analog signals from thermometers or light sensors to be measured along with electrical power data, and one analog output allows communication to an external device. This true RMS (root mean square) sensing meter provides accurate readings when measuring linear or non-linear loads, where the current or voltage has a sinusoidal or nonsinusoidal waveform. The meter meets International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) safety standard 61010 and is certified for category III installations up to 600V, which covers items used with enclosed building circuit installations (such as service panel parts, branch circuits, and fixed installations that are connected directly to a building's AC power supply), and category IV up to 300V, which covers measurements at the source of the low-voltage supply (such as electricity meters and overcurrent protection devices).
