The Gingerbread Man (Easy-To-Read Folktales)

Bought for my grandkids. Haven't heard this story in years. Love it

Vendor shipped very promptly and pleased they were exactly what was described new books and what ordered. I would order again from this seller. I bought two copies of this book for two small toddlers 1 and 2 years old for Christmas. Both of them loved this book and constantly want their parents to read it as a bedtime story. I added a stuffed gingerbread boy with the story book that I sewed since I am a sewer and they just loved this book with their miniature stuffed Gingerbread man. I loved this version of this book when i was a child and I am 60 years old. The words are simple, easy reading, very catchy words and repetitive for young children. I say this version is still the best one out there. I wish at time I could have found a hard cover version of this book. The price was great for a soft cover and golden books version book. The parents tell me their two little girls lover this book and never get bored reading this story over and over again after Christmas.

I sent this book to a friend's granddaughter. I had given her a Gingerbread man (stuffed) when I last saw here and wanted her to have the book. She loves it per her grandmother. This is just like the one my daughter had as a child.

Such a great story. It was read to me as a child, and I just never forgot it. Just as I remembered. A classic must buy.

The book is fabulous. It's the best version of the gingerbread man folk tale to read aloud to children. I'm very happy it's in print and available. The end sheets were loose and wrinkled. Maybe they got wet at some time. Or maybe the glue wasn't applied properly in the first place. I was surprised, because Turtleback is such a great binding. Anyway, I didn't return it. I have access to specialized book glue and know how to fix it. I wonder if any of the other copies have the same problem. The text block of the book was fine. So was the cover. Again, I love this book and it's illustrator.

This delightful tale is still as engaging for children today as it was decades ago. Repetition and memory are part of this story. The refrain of, "You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man," has the child repeating it right along with you as you read it aloud. And children like recalling the characters from whom the gingerbread man is running: the little boy, the old man and woman, the farmers, etc. The pictures are large and colorful, too.I presented this along with a gingerbread man cookie cutter to a 4 1/2 year-old and her mommy. When I saw how much the little girl liked decorating my own cookies, I realized what a wonderful gift this could be, as it was not only a project for the two of them to enjoy, but the child loved the book and would have fond memories for years to come, each time she read it.

My six-year-old grandson loves to read, so I try buy him different books that he asked for.
