Lemon...
I had some problems with the $15 Radio Shack Walkmans (I think they're Persidian or Coby?) because they are of poor quality and don't even have a reverse. I thought "Oh, my Dad had a Sanyo, has had it since '83, and that still works." So I found this, ordered it, came out to about $41, and am VERY disappointed. I tried a 90 minute tape, Not only slow, but jittery, inconsistent speed. I changed to brand new batteries, same problem. Tried a 60 minute tape, the problem did clear up some, but still unacceptable warbling. I tested both cassettes in my radio's deck, played fine. I'd return this if I hadn't opened the case to check the belts and adjust the speed knob. On that note, it is a weird design that slows the tape to a dead stop with any pressure what-so-ever, even by placing it on its side will change the pitch of the jittery mess it puts out. Again, I managed to get that to clear up some, but not nearly enough. I've gotten better experiences with $15 Codys, and I hate those! To try to put some sort of positive spin on it, the AM/FM works, when you stand still, anyway. No, I would not recommend it to a friend.

great sound
The Sanyo VIP-X33 Stereo Cassette Player Walkman has a great sound and the AM-FM stations come in clearly. The only problem with the Sanyo Stereo Cassette Player Walkman is its large size. The large size is bulky and makes wearing on a belt or pocket impossible. The large size of the Walkman makes it easier for the off button to be clicked if put inside a pocket which means one will have to push the on button a lot to play a tape. The Battery Department is also hard to open.

Great cassette player
Purchased this because my Sony quit working and I quickly found out Sony no longer makes these Walkman cassette players. Need small cassette player to listen to my relaxation cassette which didn't convert well to a cd. Very happy with operation of cassette player. Motor is quiet, plays the right speed, doesn't eat batteries and has the minimal acceptable buttons - play, stop, rewind and fast forward. When I'm done listening I put it in a drawer and it's out of the way. Agree that battery compartment is hard to open but expect as it's opened a few more time it'll get easier. Certainly not a deal breaker. Don't use for walking or exercising so don't care that it lacks belt clip. In short, if you're looking for a small cassette player that's not an el cheapo I highly recommend this. Radio works fine but not the reason I bought this. Sound quality is very good.
