This is a bottle of whole seeds, not ground, nor is it celery salt. So you must crush or grind them by hand to get the flavor. Keep away from children. Too easy to get a mouthful and possibly choke to death.

I'm glad the seeds are smaller than the norm. It makes it easier to kinda melt in my stews etc... if that makes sense. Can't go wrong for the price since I don't always have fresh Celery in my fridge. Expiration date is way ahead in time. No damage to the container and a must for my seasonings rack. Quick Shipping!

I have a recipe that calls for crushed celery seed that I have made for years. What I have been doing all this time is trying to crush whole celery seeds with a spoon, which does not work well at all. I did this because I have never found it already crushed. I got tired of this so first I bought a pestle and mortar but this was still hard and the seeds flew everywhere again so I decided to try finding already crushed ones on Amazon. I have one issue that makes it difficult finding spices and that is that the people I make the recipe for have Celiacs Disease so cannot have gluten. When I ran across this brand I was thrilled as it is gluten free and made in a facility that does not also have gluten which would cross-contaminate it. I was a little nervous though that it might have a funny smell or taste but it did not. The next time I made my recipe it turned out wonderfully and it was so much less of a hassle. The crushed seeds were fresh and the size of the bottle is large enough to keep some in two places where I cook.

I regularly purchase spices from this brand...the celery seeds weren't just seeds- there's a lot of stems and the flavor is off. The functionality is not present.
