Great collection of bits
They are not cheap but I decided to invest in this set because I have a number of old, dull router bits, plus I needed a few new ones for a project. I wasn’t disappointed! They are very sharp - cut my finger removing one of them. My African Mahogany project was like butter to these. The case is a nice bonus.

Quality router bits built to last, cut cleanly, but decide if kits are right for your needs.
I like this Freud artisan router bit kit, after years of use, I can say that the bits are are good quality and last well if looked after. This kit is especially handy for folks who like combining various profiles to make fancy picture frames and such.BUT IS THIS THE BEST KIT FOR YOUR NEEDS?That said, for general everyday wood working... there are definitely bit types that are used significantly more than others, and the ones you use more often... will depend on the type of wood working that you do, and that will vary from one person to another. Honestly, unless you do a diverse range of wood working, the kit may actually be overkill for you. That said...If you think you'll get nice variety of roundover bits... and all the bits you actually use.... you'll be disappointed. Sometimes I think packs like this are the best way for Freud to combine and sell a bunch of esoteric (and potentially less used) bits in a nice package, under the guise of a "bulk or value deal". However, if most bits in the kit go largely unused or rarely used, then it's not going to offer you the best value.... and Freud bits get expensive pretty quickly. That said, this kit would work well in maker spaces, educational institutions, and the arty types of workshops. For everyday production carpentry... I'd be buying smaller, more specialised kits... if not buying the bits individually.HOW DO THEY CUT?The bits cut well, softwoods like the venerable pine are smooth and with the proper speed selection for the router bit diameter, don't burn the wood. Extremely hard woods like Australian Jarrah, Iron Wood, and Red Gum are where these bits really shine and I don't regret buying higher quality bits like these. That said, carbide edges still require maintenance...BASIC HOME MAINTENANCE OF ROUTER BITS:Maintenance of these bits helps to get the best value (think year of extra use) out of your Freud bits. However, you can do a lot at home to keep them in good condition. I clean the bits in dishwashing detergent, gently scraping off any sap and/or glue residue, let it dry. Then placing the flat (radial) edge of each cutter on a diamond sharpening stone, and as you grind the surface down, count the number of strokes, and give the other cutter the EXACT same number of strokes at same pressure to keep the bit's overall balance in check. Rinse off the residue once again, and apply a drop of oil to the bearings, and you'll be good.Thinking back, I have replaced the bearing on one of the bits after heavy use. When my techniques aren't enough, (and I haven't utterly destroyed the carbide in my bit) I've sent just one bit from this off to a professional re-sharpening and rebalancing service in Australia, and it came back like new for less than half the price of a new one. I'm sure there are similar services in countries around the world.. and it's worth sending them in batches (along with my various saw blades, and drill bits) to save on postage. All in all, these bits do the job well, and I'm happy with them, but think carefully about whether a kit this big offers real value, and if you'd use most of the bits. If not, buy them individually when you have a need.I hope this helps with your routing needs!

Happy Husband
I gave it to my husband as a XMAS gift; he was thrilled. I am sure he would have enjoyed. It was however lost in the fire. Our house like many others in California was burned to the ground.

BITS REMOVE EASILY LUBRICATED
I used Armorall and Penetrating lubricant spray tube - both worked to allow easy bit removal. Quality Freud product - beautiful bits and case.

Bits ok, shipping a disappointment
I have not had an opportunity to use the bits, but knowing the quality of Freud router bits these should perform as expected. I did not give five stars because of damage to the shipping case. The case is not as pictured in the webpage but instead looks like one from a retail store selling the bits individually (clear plastic top - cracked - with drawing of the effect of each bit). The case was poorly packed with the result that the wood pieces holding the bits broke loose. Given the cost of this set, more care should have been taken with packing. I have not decided whether or not to return this for a replacement.

I have not used the routers, but was upset ...
I have not used the routers, but was upset to find the plastic cover broken on delivelry. I gave serious thought about returning the shipment, but decided to keep it. I guess I should be thankful my box was not as damaged as the other reviewer box. The wooden racks in the box were not damaged, just the plastic casing was damaged beyond repair. I have discarded the broken plastic cover.and the rest of case is quite serviiable. I am keeping my eys out for a replacement coverI have used the first bit and am pleased with its perforance. If not for the s hppping problem, I would have given the purchase a 5 star rating.
