Easily cooks "deep fry" without the oil, and more than a "deep fryer" replacement!! Easy and fast!
First: I read the negative review regarding the difficulty of removing the basket. Regarding this, I did the same thing (I read directions second) not realizing that if you just pull out the basket from the unit, it takes the heavy "drip tray", insulated cooking section with it. You need to release the lightweight basket from the drip tray compartment by pushing the release button on the handle. Easy peasy and light. Once you've shaken, click it back into the compartment and put back into the Brio. After months of seeing recipes, hearing friends rave about air fryers, I FINALLY decided to splurge! I'm kinda a kitchen "gadget nerd", anything to help me cook better, faster, easier. (Honestly, I'm in my 50's and have probably cooked less than 20 dishes in a regular oven in my entire life! Have been using pressure cookers, slow cookers for more than 30 years, have a low-pressure oven, etc.)The Nuwave Brio attracted me because it has a better, more consistant temperature monitor than most, and it's been specializing in cooking appliances for more than 30 years. I chose the 6 qt because i wanted one large enough to cook an entire small chicken (I only cook for myself and my son), healthier meals. I've also missed OCCASSIONALLY (not part of my daily or regular diet, but something I enjoy) eating deep fried foods such as deep fried mozzarella sticks, fries, fish, mushrooms because in the last few years, those foods don't agree with my digestive system at all.As soon as I got this yesterday, I had a "fried food fiesta", and even cooked pork chops and homemade potato chips which my son gave a high score. Everything turned out great without ANY oil!! VERY easy to clean the unit. However, the unit does heat up, I highly recommend (as does the user manual) to use on your stovetop with the exhaust fan turned on.Very easy to clean, adjust time/temp and has a preheating mode, which is useful to get the unit to the proper temp before starting to cook.Very even cooking, crispy results when needed, even without ANY oil. Can also bake, roast, dehydrate. Large cooking area.Large enough to cook for more than a single person, single servings, etc.Cons:Pretty large, 12" cube, but very nice looking if you have the space to keep on counter, not difficult to store otherwise. Size needed to cook for more than 1 person. The different wattage settings aren't really clearly covered or why they're needed, how to adjust cooking times/temps for different wattages. I've tried all 3. The 1800 and 1500 watt settings performed the best, however, I have a 30 year old condo, and those settings left the cord hot to the touch when I went to unplug. The 900 watt setting didn't perform as well. The recipe book only includes 36 recipes. Other units come with recipe books with 80+ recipes.I would rather have a stackable rack to allow for larger batch cooking than a basket divider. It doesn't have a "halfway" alarm to remind you to shake/flip as most units require.

Performance
I went through 4 other air fryers this year (including Ninja Foodi Grill) before settling for this one, and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Every single feature used thus far (air fryer, bake, toast, grill, etc.) has put a smile on my face. The Quickstart Guide lists 100 preset functions, however, the appliance itself goes beyond 100 functions.Cons- I dont care for the slant design, but then again, that has nothing to do with performance.- The appliance gets extremely hot, so be very careful with the edges when adding/removing food. I now have a burn mark on each of my arms.In regards to the grill, I used it yesterday for the first time. The chicken breasts were so moist and tender, in fact, the best that I've ever cooked. This NuWave Brio appliance does indeed live up to its name. I am more than pleased, and highly recommend it.

Tough start but be patient
I waited forever to get an air fryer. I was enticed by price and gadgets, this one won. What I didn't expect was having to fight with the darned thing to remove the basket or the grill. At one point I had a screwdriver to loosen it a bit.Quite a few bad words and silently yelling at the engineers that designed this, it did get easier the more you use it. It reminded me of using a new outlet. Some you have to really fight with a few times. That problem solved, I do like this. It's much heavier than I anticipated, but it does what it claims to do. I do use a very small amount of olive oil for fries or anything I want super crispy, but you need just a small amount. I read to only use oil oil, never any Pam or similar sprays.I've heard the down side of air fryers is the cleaning part. I can't speak to cleaning the top, inside part yet (it's on my research to-do list) but another tick on the yes-buy-this-one list was the promise of the removable papers being dishwasher safe. Completely unfair test- I didn't put foil down first before I made chicken wings. The grate/rack part -yeah, a mess. I thought you know what? Throw this in the dishwasher- the rack, the basket, in you go. I knew I'd pay for it later. But to my surprise it cane out spotless. Huh.So far, I'm happy, but due to the initial issues of not being able to pull everything apart, took off a star.

Highly recommend for product & customer service
This is a bit lengthy...I learned to cook from scratch from my mom. As I got older, it was easier to microwave-especially cleaning. I hate cleaning an oven. I would use a toaster oven for what I couldn't nuke. Then a friend of mine started telling me of cooking with her air fryer. I didn't really think it would be better than what I was doing, but I then saw this special offer with all the perks at a price I couldn't pass on. (I'm not cheap, I'm poor...). I researched it, questioned my friend, & bought it. I was REALLY impressed with everything I received. The manuals were very detailed & have a ton of recipes. It was bigger than I thought it would be, yet a good size for one person. It was missing the fry pan divider & I reached out to get one from the company. I emailed them & got a response in a couple of hours. I got a package within a few days, but it wasn't the right piece. I reached out again & received the right part quickly, along with an email follow-up to make sure everything was OK. They even registered my product for me.I'm gradually learning how to use & so far it is easier than I anticipated. Very satisfied so far & look forward to many years of use.
