I used to make homemade bangers as we call them here in the uk AKA fire crackers 
All you need is a box of safety matches . 
Crush the heads down to a fine powder then take a razor blade and scrape the brown striking strip off of the side of the match box until you have a fine dust like powder 
Try not to scrape the cardboard box into the mix 
Once you have your crushed match heads and the powder from the safety striking strip mix the two together and you will have something that creates quite a bang .
I used to pack it into a piece of rolled up card or paper ensuring the end was blocked up then the mixture was jammed in tightly .
I would hold back a small amount of the mixture to make a fuse by rolling it in a cigarette paper and jamming it in the top end of the homemade tube and it worked quite well most of the time and was louder than any store bought banger .
It's been over 30 years since I made one so this is my best recollection for making something that might help anyone wanting to cut a corner but please be careful .
PS hopefully safety matches are still made the same as they were in the 80s and 90s so fingers crossed 🤞 that's if you don't lose any after listening to me 😂

There's not a lot available over the counter.  But I use slow burning accelerants like crushed match heads. You can buy gun caps and use them,  but beware they burn fast and make sure you don't have anything for the projectile to recosay back at you.

Short answer no. It may be classed as an ornament by the seller from China. However it has been made, adapted or intended to be used as a firearm. They have advised that it can easily be made to fire a Metal ballbearing projectile. You would need a license to own this. Good luck getting one as it doesn’t fit into the remit of a section 1 or section 2 firearm. Canons are classed as a shotgun under  section 2 of the firearms act as they are of a smooth bore. They must be over 24 inches in length and not exceeding 2 inches in bore diameter and you need a license. Shortening the barrel to under 24 inches would breach section 4 of the firearms act.
