When I ordered mine, there wasn't a specific color for a specific year model. Your were able to choose what color you wanted. You were only limited to availability. It wasn't color coded to year model. If the oil filter hasn't changed, it could be a quality control issue if you're having fitment issues.

Yes, they havent changed the filter for a long time and the 2021 Rams have the filter as well.

I don't know but it is well made and is much better than the plastic cap off tool.

The color is personal preference I believe. The one I got was red (which I like bc I can easily see it) and it works flawlessly for my 14 Ram with the 6.7L.
