Can this be used on painted walls?

Yes I reattached my toilet roll holder on a painted wall and it stuck fine. Hasn't come off yet!

Does it stick to plastic

Yes, this is a very good tape that is, as the name implies, multipurpose so plastic, is one of the many materials it will stick to. In fact, as long as the surfaces are dust free, I found no materials that this tape wouldn’t stick to. I am very impressed with its quality and the countless applications it has. It now forms part of my tool kit!! Just a great to have handy for those DIY or emergency repairs. It is extremely water resistant too. Hope this helps

If I stick this to a painted (and sealed with shilac) wood surface could I then remove it without pilling off the surface?

I would definitely say it would pull the surface off

Will this be ok to use on ornaments on wood furniture (to stop cats from knocking them over & breaking them)

I wouldn’t use this at all. It sticks very well and needs leverage to remove. This may break fragile items. What you need is museum putty; it’s used to keep artefacts in displays in place and stop them being knocked over.

I had a terrible experience with this product.I used it to stick a frame to the wall which after 3 days I came home to find the broken on the floor.I have several of these frames and have used other brands of double sided sticky products and none of my others have fallen down (some of them have been up for years)
