12 Pack Cincinnati Chili Mix packets

I moved to Atlanta from Cincinnati and had missed Skyline so much. I also went vegan, so just buying it in stores wasn't an option. I bought these and oh man, have started putting this on like everything. I hadn't even thought of what it would be like to put cincinnati chili seasoning on vegan spicy chicken sandwiches, but i'm so happy i tried it. even just putting the seasoning on the vegan chicken patty alone without making actual chili worked perfectly and captured the skyline style flavor.I'm a little worried because it looks like mainly third party sellers though. Did this place go out of business or something? Hopefully not because these will definitely become a staple for me....

Being a native of Cincinnati i grew up on this stuff. The flavor is right, it's easy to make, and cost less than driving home for chili.

Making this at home is great and tastes like you are at a Cincinnati chili parlor. It takes over an hour to cook, so understand that your house will smell like chili.

When I moved to DC the thing I missed the most was that fantastic chili.Over the years I tried substitutes (Hard Time Cafe "Cincinnati Style" Chili, cans of branded "Skyline Chili") and nothing compared to the taste of the real deal.Well, last year I discovered these packets, and I have to say, this is the EXACT taste of Skyline Chili. I've made it for many of my friends from Ohio who have visited me and everyone agrees that this is "spot on" to the taste of an authentic Skyline Chili experience.I've made many batches and have been purchasing these pouches like crazy. Last week I had a chili night for all my employees and served this chili (which was enjoyed by all). I don't see the need to doctor it up with anything else (it tastes great to me the way the instructions say to cook it). The only thing I do is make sure the ground beef is extra-finely ground. I've tried different methods and the one that works the best is to chop the ground beef up with a sharp butcher knife as much as possible.Other than finely ground beef, this couldn't be any easier to prepare. Combine it with some spaghetti, finely grated mild cheddar, diced white onions, and oyster crackers, and you'll have an authentic Skyline Chili evening at home when you can't get it from the restaurant. I've even made Skyline hot dogs which are fantastic.If you're craving Cincinnati Style Chili, this will more than deliver.

I grew up with classic chili - spicy, not too wet. A substance of its own. A stand-alone easy dinner treat.One winter evening my wife and I went out for dinner and decided to pay a visit to a Hard Times Chili parlor. Imagine my surprise when I opened the menu to find three different types of chili. I'm thinking "really, how different can chili recipes be?" I decided to ask our waitress about the differences and she told me about Cincinnati style. The difference being the cinnamon added to the batch.I was so pleased that I tried this style - I LOVE cinnamon. It is one of my favorite spices. So, I dug in with some fresh cornbread and a cold beer and was so pleasantly surprised - I now had a new favorite chili recipe. The problem arose when we moved to a new location and there were no Hard Times cafes in our neighborhood. So I began the hunt for a Cincinnati style chili mix that was as good as Hard Times. After scouring Amazon for other reviews I decided to take a chance on this particular brand. It is SPOT ON to my experience at Hard Times and is a great price. We have made only a small change to the preparation instructions that are supplied with the packets - we cut the amount of water that they recommend adding to the mix by almost half and now have the same taste and consistency that we loved at Hard Times.

We have the actual recipe used to make Cincinnati chili at home, but these packets make preparing it so much easier, and taste the same.

My mother is from Cincinnati and we're all in Washington. There is nothing in Washington that sells anything like the food from her youth. She is also a terrible cook. Awful. I've cooked this chili from recipes for her for years but sometimes after a full 8 hours something quick is the more desirable option for me and her as she is elderly. I like this as it is full bodied in flavor and is a good quick option, all you need is some meat, tomato paste and water to get it going. If you want it spicier add more spices. It's just a good base option for those in a hurry or for those who don't know how to cook.

If you grew up on Cincinnati chili and no longer live anywhere nearby, then this fills that void. The packets are easy to use. Just make sure you allow plenty of simmering time for the cook down. Usually I use alittle less water and might add more later. I think the flavor is right on. Generally I prepare one day while we eat it the next. I will say, upon receiving my last order the expiration date was sooner than later. We are not a family that often serves this. That in itself was disappointing. I will be using these packet past the date stamped on the envelopes. All and all I am satisfied to have found this product.
