When Kwikset made their products so easily re-keyable, they made me a Kwikset devotee. All of our rental properties have Kwikset locks, and changing the locks out with each change of tenancy has never been easier. The instructions are easy to follow. Getting two bonus keys keyed differently comes in surprisingly handy. It goes without saying, but being able to change locks out so quickly and easily improves security of our properties. The provided keys always function smooth as butter. If you have a need to change your locks on any kind of regular basis, you need to buy Kwikset and make sure you get the models compatible with re-keying. You'll get a flimsy little tool when you buy a new doorknob set, but having this tool in a sturdy red holder makes it much less likely to get lost.

My gf lost her main key ring. Has 4 locks in two doors that used about 3 different keys, so I set out to rekey all to one key. The good thing is, her locks are all Smart Key, so this job should be pretty simple. Will update after everything re-keyed.UPDATE: 7/10/25 got all 4 locks rekeyed to one key for her, she is very happy. Buy this kit!!

perfect for changing my Kwikset smart lock; this is a dream for renters, you may rotate the keys each time people moves out, by keeping the old ones, and replacing with new ones. Beware of the smart key insert tool; it is not easy to use while key is in place. The original one is just a piece of thin metal. the new one has plastic enclosure which can interfere with the process. I had to rekey again because it cause my new key to not fully been inserted and botched the job. Luckily there is a video that tells you how to undo the process.

I've moved to a new house and wanted to change the entire deadbolt. A Youtuber mentioned that if there is a tiny hole beside the key hole, it means you can rekey your lock in-place without replacing the deabolt... WHAT?! I just ended up buying this kit and it worked like a miracle! I don't know the engineering inside this locks, but it's truly fascinating! Two thumbs up!
