Very enchoyable
Just a fun amusing book about the funny pronunciation of English by the pa Dutch. Brings back memories of my Oma who spoke it fluently and had a very strong accent that us younger Dutchmen use amongst ourselves to play around. A lot of fun for people interested in the culture.

I Laughed My Way Through This Book
The writer accomplished a not-so-easy task of writing how the word or phrase sounds as opposed to its correct spelling. Accurate, excellent work. This book is a historical preservation and contribution to language in our time. I suspect in 3 centuries from now people will still be laughing and enjoying this masterpiece and scholars will be appreciating the labor of one dedicated author.

Funny!
This is not a serious book on language. It just pokes fun at the "dutchie" accent that is familiar to us residents of south central PA. As one who puts a great deal of value on proper grammar, I have to take it in small doses. But I have enjoyed it, as many of the pronunciations are quite amusing!

It was a fun book
I suppose that some people are just born without funny bones. I liked the book and have heard most of what is said in the colloquial dialect around this part of Pennsylvania. Maybe it is an inside joke. Really don't care, but I thought that it was lots of fun. I'm looking forward to getting the second volume.

Fun Book
Great book. Very entertaining. Brought back many great memories of my grandparents who were very PA Dutch. It's fun to see just how much my vocabulary was influenced by Pennsylvania Dutch.

It's just a joke
I bought this without reading the description carefully enough. I was looking for a book of the Pennsylvania Dutch words and phrases that I've been accustomed to hearing during my lifetime residence in PA. This book is a list of (supposedly funny) mispronunciations. An example: Hunkrey: famished; starved.Despite my error in selecting this book, which is self-described as an introduction to the PA Dutch accent, I can hardly imagine anyone of even average intelligence enjoying it. Sorry.
