The chair is big enough for a child or small person. I am 5'4 200lbs (mommie) I sat in it and it held me but i would not but it for me. I would shop for a bigger chair for adults.

Maybe a couple in. ,but then it won't blow away if the wind picks up!!

:) depends on your size. I am about 190 lbs and it fits me well. Just one thing I encountered is that that the metal cross legs are hurting after longer time sitting.
