Every kid in the English speaking world NEEDS to know these stories.
This book, AND also the "part 2" second book, are ESSENTIAL reading for everyone in the English speaking world. The information, the concepts, the lessons, the cognitive metaphors of rational and logical thought patterns are easily learned and grasped by a child, adolescent, or adult being exposed to all these stories. I am thanked and told by my kids (now parents with their own kids) that they are successful (and they all are) because (1) they were not allowed to watch TV, and (2) they were read to (and then did the reading themselves) being explosed to critical "mind forming" stories such as are contained in this wonderful book.

Great read aloud to give your kid cultural references
I am really enjoying reading these stories to my 8 year old daughter at bedtime. So far, she has liked best Don Quixote’s windmills adventure, because it is funny. She also liked The Golden Touch about King Midas, and the story about Phaeton trying to drive his father Apollo’s sun chariot across the sky. She loves Classic Myths to Read Aloud.

Classics!
I read to my students (9-14) during the snack time. It's been great to share some short fiction that I loved as a kid--Mark Twain, O'Henry, the cyclops in The Odyssey! And the kids love it too.
