Will I need to shampoo my hair before using this texurizer?

My husband uses this and he does NOT shampoo his hair before using this texturizer. He says by not shampooing your hair first it helps protect your scalp incase you put to much on. He also does not use the whole jar at one time, he says depending on the length of your hair you may get up to 4 uses out of it. Good luck! Hope this helps.
