KOHLER86972 Flush Valve Assembly Kit

Great service and delivery. Part fitted and toilet repaired

I bought the part for my toilet tank. The water was constantly dripping. Whatever I did, I was not able to replace the part. I turned to YouTube and the suggested to remove the gasket flatten it between two boards with clamps, put it in the freezer overnight. Put the flatten gasket on the part and installed it in seconds. That process should be included in the install directions. Otherwise the part was great.

Very hard to install. Hard to compress new gasket. Had to us a thin pry bar and then twist it clockwise to seat. but it did stop the water seeping.

My other flush valves gasket was deteriorating and leaking water into the bowl. Before installing this you need to compress the gasket and freeze it. You can't apply enough pressure on the valve to properly install it. Videos are available.

Initially tried to install it without following everyone's advise about how to do it.Once I gave up, I froze the gasket (compressed) as suggested by other reviewers and a youtube video.After a few hours, I tried it again. It installed easily.

Received kohler flush kit. 3/4 days late. It came without gasket, Sent back to Amazon , Received replacement. Once again delayed from Amazon initial schedule date, This time the flush kit was used, plastic housing has dirt film, gasket was dirty. Also ordered a trip handle kit was missing washer and bracketIs this a Amazon problem or Kohler?

Very hard to install. But whoever came up with the "freeze method," made it easy. Clamp the gasket between two pieces of wood to about half its thickness and put it in the freezer for a couple hours. Try-fit the valve without the gasket to see how the plastic tabs engage into the porcelain. Then slip the frozen gasket onto the valve housing, insert it into the porcelain at a 45 degree angle and rotate it vertical.I had some concern that freezing the gasket might keep it from expanding to normal width, but it works fine - no leaks. Come on Kohler, publicize this procedure.

Please read the other reviews. The comments about freezing the gasket between two pieces of boards is a must. You cannot put enough pressure on the unit to get it to Mount without doing so. I only froze it for one hour versus the 24 hours that others said. Once that was done it attached with ease.
