Q: I installed 300k btu air mixer and getting gas blowing out of air holes? it is installed on a 30” burner. low flame all the way up.

Im having the same issue. I started smelling propane immediately after use and shut it off. Checked all fittings. When using my sniffer it's obviously coming out of the mixer holes. I have an adjustable pressure regulator and it smells no matter where it's at. I will most likely throw it out and call this a loss. For what it's worth I've built a fair amount of fire tables and this is the first time I've ever had any issue. I think it's a good idea but inevitably you're opening up a semi enclosed area to leakage which is what makes a bomb. I'd be very careful with this and if you smell anything shut it off immediately.

Q: Do you need to keep the stainless extension piece on or can it be threaded directly to burner without that?

You do not need to use the adapter. But it does allow the shut off to screw on to it and give you clearance to keep your shut off valve away from the bottom of the bowl. For myself, I welded my mounting tab to it, so I had a comnection point to my bowl. I set the height I wanted the ring to sit. Then I tack welded my mount to the extension. Removed it all, and completed my welding and drilled my hole to bolt it into the bowl

Q: My lp outdoor fire pit works great but i’d like a slightly larger flame. would this air mixer make my flame larger or smaller?

It might make it a little bigger, but adjusting the regulator, if possible, would be your best bet. Some have a threaded cap that covers the adjustment screw.

Q: Will this work for Australian gas bottles?

I'm sorry but I don't know for sure. How ever I would think so as it goes in the gas line not at the tank.
