You need the Philips Hue Bridge for it to work with Alexa, once you have that, Alexa works wonderfully well, and you can use the Philips app to control it too.

Yes. I have it in the bedroom behind the tv as a backlight however I have also used it as a reading lamp.

I control mine with a living colour remote I had from another lamp. I just Googled how to connect it
