In the details for this game it lists 1-4 players, but in the description it says 2-5 players, which is correct?

The game is for 2-5 players. It isn’t playable solo.

Anyone figure out what the 5 cards with the four declarable colors in the corners are used for? There's nothing in the instructions about them.

You can use them to identify the color of the card you are playing by putting the card on top of the color in front of you. Completely optional.

What happens if you run out of tokens while playing?

You should never run out of tokens. You have the amount you need to play and you can use the tokens you remove from player board also.
