Is the hdmi used for the output from the gpu and the displayport, whatever monitor you want it on cause mine dont work properly???

The HDMI socket is the input to the adapter from, in my case, a PS4, and the display port plug then goes into the monitor, it is essential to plug the USB connector into a working USB socket as this is what powers the adapter. Essentially a HDMI cable goes from the PS4 to the HDMI socket on the adapter, the USB plug is connected to a USB socket and the display port plug goes into the monitor. As stated in my review this was purchased for my grandson who had damaged the HDMI socket on his monitor and it works flawlessly.

Will this work for a ps3,ps4 pro and ps5?

As long as they all have HDMI ports and the USB plug is connected to a correctly powered socket I cannot see why not. My grandson is using one with his PS4 and a monitor with no problems.
